{"id":683507,"date":"2026-01-09T02:07:12","date_gmt":"2026-01-09T02:07:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/683507\/"},"modified":"2026-01-09T02:07:12","modified_gmt":"2026-01-09T02:07:12","slug":"birmingham-boss-on-kyogo-furuhashi-return-to-celtic-rumours","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/683507\/","title":{"rendered":"Birmingham boss on Kyogo Furuhashi return to Celtic rumours"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n  Furuhashi, who is currently with Birmingham, has been the subject of rumours suggesting the Japan striker could head back to the Scottish champions this month.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Ahead of Birmingham&#8217;s FA Cup tie against Cambridge United, Davies spoke about Furuhashi&#8217;s situation.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The 40-year-old manager said the club has had no discussions about a potential move for the striker.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  He said: &#8220;Kyogo is our player who has been playing more matches recently than he has in the last few months. [<a href=\"https:\/\/www.givemesport.com\/exclusive-birmingham-respond-kyogo-celtic-transfer-report\/?ref=ed_direct\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">GiveMeSport<\/a>]\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  &#8220;The plan is that Kyogo continues in that vein \u2013 gets his goals and gets his game moving.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  &#8220;So I\u2019ll support him to do that.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  &#8220;We\u2019ve had no discussions at the moment about anything other than Kyogo giving his best and doing his best for Birmingham City.&#8221;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Davies indicated that he believes the striker will stay with Birmingham.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  He stated: &#8220;Personally, I think he\u2019s going to stay here and potentially battle through whatever comes in front of him.&#8221;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Davies also praised Furuhashi&#8217;s commitment to the club: &#8220;Kyogo cannot be doing any more in terms of his own efforts with the club.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  &#8220;So, we\u2019ve been supporting him, and we\u2019ll be going along with that.&#8221;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  However, he also acknowledged the possibility of changes in the future, saying: &#8220;Again, though, like a lot of things we\u2019ll obviously see as things progress through January, where everyone is and make sure everyone is on the same page.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  &#8220;But certainly at this moment in time, Kyogo is an important player in the squad and will continue to be so.&#8221;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Since departing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.glasgowtimes.co.uk\/sport\/celtic?ref=au\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Celtic<\/a>, Furuhashi has struggled to find the net with only one goal during his time at Rennes and Birmingham.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  That goal came in an EFL Cup match against Sheffield United.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  During his time at Celtic, Furuhashi scored 85 goals in 165 appearances before leaving in January 2025.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  His prolific record at the Scottish club fuelled the rumours about a potential return.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Furuhashi, who is currently with Birmingham, has been the subject of rumours suggesting the Japan striker could head&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":683508,"comment_status":"","ping_status":"","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[7826],"tags":[748,918,4884,712,16,15],"class_list":{"0":"post-683507","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-glasgow","8":"tag-britain","9":"tag-glasgow","10":"tag-great-britain","11":"tag-scotland","12":"tag-uk","13":"tag-united-kingdom"},"share_on_mastodon":{"url":"","error":""},"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/683507","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=683507"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/683507\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/683508"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=683507"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=683507"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=683507"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
