{"id":683645,"date":"2026-01-09T03:38:11","date_gmt":"2026-01-09T03:38:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/683645\/"},"modified":"2026-01-09T03:38:11","modified_gmt":"2026-01-09T03:38:11","slug":"birmingham-city-council-to-auction-land-opposite-birmingham-airport","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/683645\/","title":{"rendered":"Birmingham City Council to auction land opposite Birmingham Airport"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tX<br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/full-logo-white.png\" alt=\"The Business Desk\"\/><br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tRegister for free to receive latest news stories direct to your inbox<br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thebusinessdesk.com\/register\/\" class=\"btn\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Register<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Birmingham City Council has instructed Bond Wolfe to sell a parcel of land located opposite Birmingham Airport as part of its ongoing programme to dispose of property assets.<\/p>\n<p>The sale forms part of a wider effort by the council to address a budget shortfall by selling assets from its \u00a32.4bn investment property portfolio.<\/p>\n<p>Once the largest landowner of any UK local authority, with an estate spanning around 26,000 acres and more than 6,500 properties generating approximately \u00a334m in annual income, the council has been reducing its holdings under a programme overseen by government-appointed commissioners.<\/p>\n<p>The site, located at the junction of Coventry Road and Clock Lane in Bickenhill, extends to approximately 0.57 acres and is being offered on a freehold basis.<\/p>\n<p>The irregularly shaped plot sits opposite Birmingham Airport\u2019s runway and may be suitable for a range of residential or commercial uses, subject to planning consent.<\/p>\n<p>It will be offered in Bond Wolfe\u2019s next auction on Wednesday, 5 February, with a guide price of \u00a3300,000 or above.<\/p>\n<p>Gurpreet Bassi, chief executive of Bond Wolfe said: \u201cWhat we have here is a valuable freehold plot of land which may be suitable for a variety of uses, subject to planning consents.
