A weather warning for snow and ice has been announced for Northern Ireland.<\/p>\n

The Met Office has issued the yellow weather warning<\/a> saying that from Friday, January 9, at 5pm to Saturday, January 10, at 11am, there will be a risk of snow and ice across NI.<\/p>\n

It said: “Clear spells on Friday evening and overnight will allow temperatures to quickly fall below freezing, leading to the development of icy stretches, especially on untreated surfaces.<\/p>\n

“A scattering of wintry showers are also expected, these falling as snow over hills above 200 m, where further small accumulations of 1 to 3 cm are possible in a few places.”<\/p>\n

It comes following a week of cold weather<\/a> in Northern Ireland and as parts of the UK prepare for the impact of Storm Goretti which has seen amber weather warnings put in place in parts of England alongside danger to life warnings.<\/p>\n

As for what to expect during the yellow weather warning<\/a> in NI, the Met Office has issued some details.<\/p>\n
