Emmerdale ties up two more loose ends in April Windsor’s dark storyline tonight \u2013 and it’s good news at last for the traumatised teen and her family. With Celia Daniels<\/a> and Ray Walters<\/a> both out of the picture, the show starts to address some unresolved plot points.<\/p>\n

First up, Mary Goskirk’s uncertain position within the family dynamic is finally put to bed. Poor Mary was left devastated last month<\/a> as her daughter Rhona harshly kicked her out of Smithy Cottage, declaring that she was no longer welcome. Protective Rhona believed that it was safer for Mary to keep a distance while Celia and Ray were making threats.<\/p>\n

In Friday’s episode, Mary addresses the elephant in the room now that she finally knows the truth about what April, Rhona and Marlon have all been through recently.<\/p>\n

When Mary admits that she wishes she’d been kept in the loop, Rhona replies: “I hated having to lie to you, mum, getting you to move out. But it was the only way we could keep you safe.<\/p>\n

“We’ve missed you so much \u2013 please come back home.”<\/p>\n

Just as everyone celebrates Mary’s decision to move back, there’s another positive update when the police want to speak to April again.<\/p>\n

After some fast investigative work, DS Walsh confirms the fate of Callum Swift following April’s account of how she supposedly killed him in self-defence<\/a>.<\/p>\n

“We made some enquiries and you’ll be relieved to know that Mr Swift is alive and well,” Walsh explains. “Once we’d tracked him down, we asked him to come in to answer a few questions, after which I arrested him for a number of crimes, including solicitation. We’ve detained him pending further enquiries.<\/p>\n

“Ray Walters and Celia Daniels lied to you. We’ve seen this pattern before. It’s a tactic. A way of keeping their victims under control.”<\/p>\n

Of course, April’s ordeal isn’t over quite yet. Walsh is unable to confirm whether April will face any legal consequences after being forced to do Ray and Celia’s bidding for months.<\/p>\n

April is also likely to be a suspect when Ray’s body is found next week, so the drama in the Dales is clearly just beginning…<\/p>\n
