Wavertree Town Hall has issued a new update following what was believed to be a permanent closure last year. The restaurant, bar and function space intends to reopen with “a new team, new look and a new offering” breathing new life into the historic building.<\/p>\n
Built in 1872, Wavertree<\/a> Town Hall<\/a> served the local community until it fell into disuse in the 1970s and was threatened with demolition in 1979. Local entrepreneur Eric Rooke took over the building, transforming it into a public house<\/a> which gained popularity but unfortunately closed again in the early 21st century.<\/p>\n By 2015, the building had fallen into a state of severe disrepair. Former Gusto Albert Dock<\/a> manager Lisa Dixon<\/a> and her business partner, Natalie Doughty<\/a>, took on the challenge of reviving the building.<\/p>\n The pair successfully outbid property developers and started on the monumental task of restoring the building to its former glory in 2020. Despite opening and closing due to covid pandemic restrictions the same year, the venue eventually reopened as a cosy 60-seater restaurant, bar and function space.<\/p>\n Wavertree Town Hall(Image: Colin Lane\/Liverpool Echo)<\/p>\n In October 2025, Wavertree Town Hall <\/a>issued a “heartbroken” message to guests confirming the venue has shut its doors for good. The statement said: “It has been an emotional rollercoaster from day one, as many of you know, we had extra struggles and pressures added onto a changed industry after the covid pandemic.<\/p>\n “We know we created a magical place where so many of you enjoyed wonderful experiences over the years. Weddings, birthdays, baby showers and more.<\/p>\n “To our customers new and old, thank you for coming on this journey with us. A special thank you to all the customers who had events booked with us.
