Leeds United are set to land more than \u00a315million in extra revenue after their Elland Road expansion plans have been approved,\u00a0sources have told Football Insider<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

49ers Enterprises has been exploring ways to expand Leeds\u2019 stadium<\/a> since taking over the club from former owner Andrea Radrizzani in July 2023. <\/p>\n

Daniel Farke<\/a>\u2019s side\u00a0submitted planning permission for the development last summer, with Leeds City Council considering the plans over the past few months.\u00a0<\/p>\n

It was confirmed on Thursday (8 January) Leeds<\/a> have received the necessary approval to increase Elland Road\u2019s capacity from 37,645 to 53,000. <\/p>\n

Sources say adding just over 15,000 new seats will provide the Yorkshire giants with more than \u00a315m in additional matchday revenue.\u00a0<\/p>\n

How Leeds\u2019 owners could finance Elland Road expansion<\/p>\n

The development will see the West Stand and the North Stand expanded at Elland Road, while alterations will be made to the South Stand.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Alongside the stadium receiving Uefa Category 4 status, it will also become the seventh-largest ground in England. <\/p>\n

Former Everton<\/a> CEO Keith Wyness previously told\u00a0Football Insider<\/strong>\u00a0Leeds\u2019 owners have the financial power<\/a> to help fund the club\u2019s stadium expansion plans.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cThe council\u2019s right behind Leeds United in doing this,\u201d said Wyness.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cIf you\u2019ve been up there, then you\u2019ll know that Elland Road\u2019s on the way into Leeds. It\u2019s a great regional development tool for Leeds as well. It\u2019s a great city, Leeds. I love going there and it\u2019s just something that I think will go well because the council are right behind it. <\/p>\n

Leeds are one of several\u00a0Premier League clubs looking to increase their stadium capacity<\/a>, with Manchester United<\/a>, Newcastle United<\/a>, Chelsea<\/a> and Nottingham Forest<\/a> all currently exploring development projects.\u00a0<\/p>\n

How much revenue do Leeds generate?<\/p>\n

The Elland Road expansion will help Leeds\u2019 owners achieve their ambitious plans<\/a> for the club. <\/p>\n

The Athletic<\/a> reported in September details around a leaked 50-slide deck, where the 49ers<\/a> group laid out its plans for Farke\u2019s side over the coming years. <\/p>\n

The ownership group currently estimates\u00a0Leeds\u00a0to be worth \u00a3527.5m, with that figure projected to increase to around \u00a31bn by 2030.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Leeds posted a record-breaking Championship revenue<\/a> in their latest published accounts for 2023-24 despite seeing their turnover fall from \u00a3189.7m in 2022-23 to \u00a3127.6m. <\/p>\n

Meanwhile, matchday income at Elland Road actually increased slightly from \u00a329.9m to \u00a330.6m across the same period. <\/p>\n

After achieving promotion back to the Premier League last season, Leeds currently sit 16th in the table, eight points above third-bottom West Ham<\/a> after 21 matches.\u00a0<\/p>\n
