Here, the studio was asked about releasing Divinity – which it announced at The Game Awards last month – on Switch 2.

To see this content please enable targeting cookies.

Manage cookie settings

To this, the studio’s technical director u/Bert_Larian noted Larian had just recently released Divinity Original Sin 2 on Nintendo’s latest console, saying: “We love the platform.” The developer then assured the community that Larian would of course also keep the Switch 2 in mind for Divinity.

During this same AMA, the developer was also asked about Divinity being playable on Steam Deck, because who doesn’t enjoy that welcome portability. Again, Bert was very enthusiastic about the platform, and just like the studio loves Switch 2, it also loves Steam Deck.

“Since [Baldur’s Gate 3] was one of the most played games on the platform, we will do our best to again release on the platform,” Bert said.

Following Divinity’s announcement last month, Larian’s CEO stated the studio was using generative AI to explore ideas, expand on internal presentations, develop concept art, and write placeholder text. It then faced its fair share of backlash following this comment, and Swen Vincke responded, stating: “Holy **** guys we’re not ‘pushing hard’ for or replacing concept artists with AI.”

He then announced the AMA, and today the studio head said Larian had changed its stance on generative AI following the backlash.

Baldur’s Gate 3 developer Larian “will certainly consider” getting its upcoming release Divinity onto Switch 2.
