Jeremy Clarkson has questioned a social media user\u2019s \u201cgrasp on reality\u201d during a heated exchange on X.<\/p>\n

The former Top Gear presenter was responding to comments beneath a video shared by farming campaign group No Farmers No Food.<\/p>\n

The clip shows the former Top Gear presenter calling for stronger Government support for agriculture in the next Parliament.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve been asked to diversify and when we try to do that the local authorities tell us we can\u2019t. At least address it,\u201d Mr Clarkson said.<\/p>\n

One X user suggested Mr Clarkson should \u201cjoin Reform\u201d and act as an adviser for farmers.<\/p>\n

Another replied that the former Brexit Party was \u201cthe reason why most farms are struggling\u201d, claiming the loss of EU subsidies had made imported food cheaper than domestic produce.<\/p>\n

Mr Clarkson responded bluntly: \u201cOh dear. You don\u2019t seem to have grasp of reality.\u201d<\/p>\n

The exchange sparked dozens of responses from users weighing in on farming, food security and agricultural policy.<\/p>\n

\u201cFarmers are the most important people. Without them we starve,\u201d one supporter wrote.<\/p>\n

Others urged consumers to buy local produce, while some criticised diversification as \u201cnot farming\u201d.<\/p>\n

Another commenter described a \u201cdouble-edged sword\u201d, saying farmers are encouraged to diversify while being blocked by regulation.<\/p>\n

One fan even called for \u201cJeremy Clarkson for agricultural minister\u201d.<\/p>\n

The No Farmers, No Food X account (@NoFarmsNoFoods) acts as a digital hub for a high-profile UK farming advocacy campaign.<\/p>\n

It was founded in early 2024 by Mr Melville, a PR specialist and media commentator who grew up on a family farm in Scotland.<\/p>\n

While Mr Melville is the public face of the campaign, it is run alongside a steering group of around 20 farmers from across the UK.<\/p>\n

The account focuses on issues including legislative pressure, economic fairness, mental health and food security.<\/p>\n

Despite being a prominent supporter of British farmers, Mr Clarkson has previously distanced himself from the group.<\/p>\n

In 2025, he said on social media: \u201cI have nothing to do with that account,\u201d after being incorrectly associated with a quote it shared.<\/p>\n

The Diddly Squat Farm Shop owner has also said he is \u201cnot the right person\u201d to lead such movements, arguing third-generation farmers should take the lead to avoid the debate being dismissed as \u201cclass war\u201d.<\/p>\n

Nevertheless, he emerged as a leading voice in protests against the Labour Government\u2019s Autumn Budget in 2024.<\/p>\n

The budget introduced a 20 per cent inheritance tax on farms worth more than \u00a31 million, prompting warnings families would be forced to sell land to pay the bill.<\/p>\n

Mr Clarkson joined around 20,000 farmers in London urging ministers to reverse what he described as a serious misjudgment.<\/p>\n

After 14 months of sustained protests, the Government announced a partial U-turn in December 2025.<\/p>\n

The inheritance tax threshold was raised, allowing married couples to pass on up to \u00a35 million in agricultural assets tax-free.<\/p>\n

The presenter has continued to criticise what he calls an \u201canti-farming\u201d political climate, accusing the Government of misunderstanding agriculture, increasing regulation and failing to support farmers amid poor weather.<\/p>\n

He has barred most Labour MPs from his pub, The Farmer\u2019s Dog, and regularly highlights diversification struggles on Clarkson’s Farm.<\/p>\n

Looking ahead, Mr Clarkson is due to host the Cereals 2026 industry event at Diddly Squat Farm on June 10\u201311.<\/p>\n

The event is expected to attract around 25,000 farmers from across the UK.<\/p>\n

While he admits he could personally walk away from farming, Mr Clarkson says he will remain in the industry.<\/p>\n

He argues British farmers possess a \u201cquiet resilience\u201d capable of withstanding continued political pressure.<\/p>\n
