amount voted in favour of strike action.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  This decision comes following planned job cuts at the university.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  93% of those voting in the ballot backed the move to strike action in opposition to the planned job cuts, with 7% voting against.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Commenting, Educational Institute of Scotland (EIS), General Secretary, Andrea Bradley said: \u201cOur members at Edinburgh Napier University have clearly demonstrated their willingness to take strike action to fight the proposed job cuts at the university.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  <strong>READ MORE:<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thenational.scot\/news\/25754817.scottish-labour-promised-cutting-edge-election-campaign--\/?ref=ed_latest\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Scottish Labour promised a &#8216;cutting edge&#8217; election campaign \u2013 where is it?<\/strong><\/a>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  &#8220;The EIS will always fight the threat of compulsory redundancies, and our members are determined to take a stand against a damaging programme of cuts which would be bad for students and staff alike.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The ballot was arranged by the EIS, who are the country\u2019s largest union for teachers and lecturers.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The result exceeds current legal threshold for strike action, and provides the EIS University Lecturers\u2019 Association (EIS-ULA) with the mandate to commence strike action at Edinburgh Napier.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The EIS-ULA Executive will now have to consider the next steps to be taken and have said they will &#8220;issue further information&#8221;
