The Glasgow Clan are pleased to announce the signing of 26-year-old Canadian goaltender Liam Souli\u00e8re, who joins the club as cover for injured netminder Sami Aittokallio.<\/p>\n
Souli\u00e8re arrives in Glasgow following the conclusion of his NCAA career, where he iced the crease for the University of Minnesota, one of college hockey\u2019s most prestigious programmes. In his final NCAA campaign, the Canadian posted an impressive .917 save percentage, recording a 13-8-2 record against elite collegiate competition.<\/p>\n
Following the NCAA season, Souli\u00e8re also gained professional experience in the ECHL with the Toledo Walleye, where he compiled a 3-1-0 record with a .900 save percentage, further underlining his readiness to step into a professional environment.<\/p>\n
Speaking on the signing, Clan goaltender Fabian Dahlem praised the newest addition to the roster:<\/p>\n
\u201cLiam is a technically strong, hard-working goaltender who competes every day. He moves well, reads the game intelligently, and brings great habits into his preparation. We believe he\u2019ll help us immediately and continue to grow into an important piece of the Glasgow Clan.\u201d<\/p>\n
Head Coach Corey Neilson highlighted Souli\u00e8re\u2019s background and the circumstances that made the move possible:<\/p>\n
\u201cFor Liam to be brought into a programme like the University of Minnesota in his fifth year of NCAA hockey says a lot about his pedigree. That\u2019s a powerhouse school, and you don\u2019t get opportunities there unless you\u2019re trusted at a very high level. This season he found himself behind two NHL-contracted goaltenders, which made him a bit of the odd man out, but that doesn\u2019t take away from his quality. We feel he\u2019s ready for this opportunity and we\u2019re excited to bring him into our group.\u201d<\/p>\n
Souli\u00e8re will link up with the Clan early next week as the team continues through a crucial stretch of the season, providing depth and competition in the crease while Aittokallio continues his recovery.<\/p>\n
