{"id":685615,"date":"2026-01-10T00:33:11","date_gmt":"2026-01-10T00:33:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/685615\/"},"modified":"2026-01-10T00:33:11","modified_gmt":"2026-01-10T00:33:11","slug":"italdesign-reinvents-honda-nsx-hybrid-inspired-by-1989-original","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/685615\/","title":{"rendered":"Italdesign reinvents Honda NSX hybrid, inspired by 1989 original"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Italdesign has overhauled the second-generation\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.autocar.co.uk\/car-review\/honda\/nsx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Honda NSX<\/a>, drawing on the greatest hits from the Japanese supercar\u2019s history.<\/p>\n<p>Chief among the homages to the 1989 original is the addition of a deck-like rear spoiler, emphasised by a \u2018floating ring\u2019 brake light. The indicators and reverse lights are concealed behind the spoiler.<\/p>\n<p>Fitted to the roof is a new scoop that recalls that on the 2005 NSX-R GT, a homologation special for the Japan Grand Touring Car Championship.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Up front, it&#8217;s more obviously derived from the modern-day NSX, with a sharp-edged nose similar to that used on the Type S that was conceived to mark the model\u2019s final year in production.<\/p>\n<p>The Honda badges are finished in red to reference the signature colour of the brand\u2019s Type R cars. The headlights, meanwhile, are fitted with removable \u2018eyelid\u2019 covers that reference\u00a0the pop-up headlights of the original 1989 NSX.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe worked on the musculature of the car to give tension and dynamism, while maintaining the purity and cleanliness of the original lines,\u201d said designer Cristiano Fracchia.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Inside, the NSX Tribute is mostly unchanged compared with the regular Mk2 NSX, albeit reupholstered according to a buyer\u2019s preference.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Technical specifications have yet to be confirmed, but the Mk2 NSX employs a twin-turbocharged 3.5-litre V6 and three electric motors, combining for 573bhp and 476lb ft.<\/p>\n<p>That allows the 1.7-tonne coup\u00e9 to complete the 0-62mph sprint in 2.9sec, putting it on a par with later hybrid supercars, such as the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autocar.co.uk\/car-review\/ferrari\/296-gtb\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ferrari 296 GTB<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Italdesign has overhauled the second-generation\u00a0Honda NSX, drawing on the greatest hits from the Japanese supercar\u2019s history.
