It has lived there ever since. <\/p>\n<p>Until, that is, an animal welfare expert came up up with a creative way to remove the unwanted guest. Johnson\u2019s saviors &#8211; volunteers from the BEAR League &#8211; crawled beneath the home to get behind the animal and used <a href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/news\/world\/europe\/wolves-dutch-national-park-paintball-guns-b2484099.html\" title=\"Wolves at national park legally allowed to be shot with paintball guns\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">paintballs<\/a> filled with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/life-style\/health-and-families\/cooking-oil-best-seed-palm-vegetable-olive-b2847369.html\" title=\"Which oil is best? Experts address the question that everyone has an opinion on\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">vegetable oil<\/a> to scare it away. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m in a situation I never imagined. A 500-pound bear has been living underneath my home in Altadena for over a month,\u201d Johnson previously wrote on a <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.gofundme.com\/f\/help-ken-repair-home-damage-caused-by-altadena-bear\">GoFundMe<\/a> page asking for help.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/A-500-pound-bear-lived-under-a-Californian-mans-home-for-37-days.png\"  loading=\"lazy\" alt=\"A 550 pound bear lived under a Californian man's home for more than a month\" class=\"sc-1mc30lb-0 ggpMaE inline-gallery-btn\"\/><\/p>\n<p>open image in gallery<\/p>\n<p>A 550 pound bear lived under a Californian man&#8217;s home for more than a month (BEAR League)<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRight after surviving the Eaton fire, I lost my job, and shortly after that the bear began tearing into the structure of my home,\u201d he continued. \u201cI have video footage of it twisting gas pipes, which created an extremely dangerous situation and forced me to shut off my utilities just to stay safe.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Johnson claimed the California Department of Fish and Wildlife were failing to help him remove the bear and threatened to sue the organization after it captured the wrong bear. <\/p>\n<p>Eventually, the frustrated homeowner decided to contact the animal protection organization BEAR League. The wildlife rescue group arrived at his home with paintball guns.<\/p>\n<p>Footage showed the bear pulling itself out of the underground hole as paintballs filled with vegetable oil were fired.
