Operating theatres at a Glasgow hospital were temporarily suspended following a burst pipe. A water leakage at the \u00a3842m Queen Elizabeth University Hospital<\/a> struck the building’s plant room, affecting its power supply today.<\/p>\n The Daily Record<\/a> reports that this resulted in the temporary closure of the hospital’s main operating theatres. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) confirmed the incident took place and has since been resolved.<\/p>\n Jackie Baillie, Scottish Labour health spokeswoman, said: “This is a very concerning incident, particularly at a hospital<\/a> that is just over a decade old, and which has already had numerous problems in that time.<\/p>\n “It is crucial that these issues are addressed, and steps are taken to ensure that no patient is put at risk as a result.<\/p>\n “Patients and hardworking staff deserve better. The SNP government and the leadership of the NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde have huge questions to answer about the construction of this hospital.”<\/p>\n A spokeswoman for NHS GGC said: “Our estates and facilities team identified a burst pipe which resulted in an electrical power outage in one of the plant rooms at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.<\/p>\n “On-site technical teams worked quickly to repair the problem which is now fully resolved. Unfortunately, this affected operating theatres temporarily.<\/p>\n “We wish to thank our staff who have been working to minimise any disruption and would like to express our apologies to those patients affected.”<\/p>\n The Glasgow hospital has been plagued with problems since its opening.<\/p>\n It was previously revealed how tragic 10-year-old Milly Main<\/a>, who was a patient at the QEUH, had been in remission from leukaemia in 2017 when her catheter became infected.<\/p>\n She died days later and a bacteria found in water, soil and plants was referred to on her death certificate.<\/p>\n
