Police arrested the man at about 22:20 for drink driving. <\/p>\n
Officers said a custody reading showed he had three times the legal limit of alcohol in his system \u2013 equivalent to 12 units or about five pints of lager for an average man.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is a reminder that we will continue to enforce the law and protect the public, even during major incidents,\u201d a police spokesperson said.<\/p>\n
Proud of emergency services and volunteers<\/p>\n
Police said the response of the emergency services and volunteers highlighted their \u201cresilience, professionalism and teamwork\u201d as they worked to keep islanders safe.<\/p>\n
A spokesperson said the Joint Emergency Services Control Centre (JESCC) managed about 450 calls between 18:00 on Thursday and 11:55 on Friday \u2013 including 146 emergency 999 calls.<\/p>\n
The calls were handled \u201ctirelessly under immense pressure\u201d by just six staff, which the spokesperson hailed as a \u201cremarkable\u201d effort.<\/p>\n

Volunteers including Guernsey Civil Protection helped with the response.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are incredibly proud of their dedication and professionalism,\u201d they added.<\/p>\n
The ambulance service responded to 10 emergency calls, two of which were storm related.<\/p>\n
In Alderney the ambulance service remained on high alert, but \u201cfortunately did not need to respond to storm-related incidents\u201d, the spokesperson said.<\/p>\n
They said they were \u201cdeeply grateful\u201d to business who supported the response, Guernsey Civil Protection volunteers and the public.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt will take time, but together we will recover,\u201d they said.<\/p>\n
