The striker has held showdown talks with boss Chris Davies amid a loan approach from Parkhead<\/p>\n

Struggling striker Kyogo Furuhashi <\/a>has only spoken about “giving his best” for Birmingham City amid transfer interest from Celtic.<\/p>\n

That is according to boss Chris Davies – who conceded major changes in the St Andrew’s squad could change the state of play. The forward was a revelation at Parkhead after being plucked from the J-League by Ange Postecoglou<\/a> in 2021 \u2013 netting 85 goals in 165 appearances for the club and winning eight trophies.<\/p>\n

He would swap the Scottish Premiership for Ligue 1 and join Stade Rennes 12 months ago, but lasted just six months in France before returning to the UK with Birmingham last summer<\/a> in a bumper \u00a310million deal. Things haven’t gone to plan for the attacker, who has netted just one goal for the Blues and has yet to score a league goal this term.<\/p>\n

Kyogo now faces the prospect of missing out on Japan’s World Cup squad, and the Hoops have yet to fill the void he left since departing in January. Record Sport <\/strong>revealed that enquires had been made over a loan deal to bring the frontman back to Glasgow’s East End.<\/p>\n

However, gaffer Martin O’Neill has described a deal as “unlikely”<\/a> with the 30-year-old looking to remain with the English Championship side. City boss Chris Davies has now lifted the lid on his talks with the forward.<\/p>\n

He said: “Kyogo is our player who has been playing more matches recently than he has done in the last few months. The plan is that Kyogo continues in that vein – gets his goals and gets his game moving.<\/p>\n

“So I’ll support him to do that.We’ve had no discussions at the moment about anything other than Kyogo giving his best and doing his best for Birmingham City.<\/p>\n

“Personally, I think he’s going to stay here and potentially battle through whatever comes in front of him.”<\/p>\n

Pressed on if additional signings could change his perspective on Kyogo’s future – with the likes of Scotland striker Lyndon Dykes<\/a> among the players who could be moved on this month – Davies appeared to leave the door open. He was coy, responding: “Certainly, at this moment in time, Kyogo is an important player in the squad.”<\/p>\n
