Fresh-faced and subtly sun-kissed, Ferne McCann<\/a> is ready for anything. Following a gorgeous family Christmas<\/a>, which came on the heels of a \u201cmagical\u201d skiing trip to Italy\u2019s Dolomites (\u201cI ate my body weight in pizza and pasta,\u201d she laughs), she\u2019s taking 2026 by the horns.<\/p>\n

At 35, Ferne, who shares daughter Finty, two, with her fianc\u00e9 Lorri Haines<\/a> and has Sunday, eight, from a previous relationship, tells us during an exclusive chat that she\u2019s in a great place \u2013 not only with her career and family, but how she feels about her body.<\/p>\n

A recent glitzy red carpet event, however, almost risked toppling that self-confidence that had taken her years to build up, she admits.<\/p>\n

\u201cI noticed so many thin women walking down the red carpet alongside me and I\u2019m not joking, I actually felt \u2018big\u2019. I started to question my body in a way that I hadn\u2019t done in years,\u201d she explains. \u201cThere\u2019s such a rise in people striving to be super skinny again. It feels like a step back, towards that heroin chic look of the 90s.<\/p>\n

\u201cEspecially as a mum to two girls, it worries me that there\u2019s such a big strive to be super skinny again. What happened to that body positivity movement? Without doubt, this is linked to the rise in weight-loss jabs. Lots of people admit it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ferne is at pains to point out that weight-loss jabs<\/a> can be very beneficial to those who truly need them \u2013 and they\u2019ve revolutionised weight loss. But she also raises concern about people abusing them.<\/p>\n

\u201cI want to be very clear, this is not me slamming weight-loss jabs,\u201d she insists. \u201cBut I do worry this new culture of \u2018thinjections\u2019 does put pressure on people to conform to being \u2018thin\u2019 and their widespread use is bringing us further and further away from the body positivity movement and the freedom it afforded us to celebrate ourselves, whatever our size.<\/p>\n

\u201cI strongly believe that women should be enjoyed and celebrated in all shapes and sizes. What I noticed were a lot of women on that red carpet that used to have boobs and a bum and just really healthy, gorgeous, female bodies.<\/p>\n

“And they\u2019ve just shrunk down to nothing. Of course it\u2019s their choice, but I definitely feel there\u2019s been a shift and it\u2019s very much towards being thin again.\u201d<\/p>\n

The former TOWIE star<\/a> admits none of her inner circle are on the jabs, though it\u2019s their choice \u2013 but she says, \u201cPersonally, I wouldn\u2019t even consider it. I feel healthy, strong and full of vitality.<\/p>\n

“I want to go into my forties feeling stronger and healthier than ever. Yes, there\u2019s an unspoken pressure more than ever to look a certain way, that will continue until we buck those unhealthy trends. We shouldn\u2019t feel pressure to shrink ourselves \u2013 we should proudly take up space.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ferne calls her eldest, Sunday, the \u201cqueen of clubs\u201d, she laughs, as she goes to athletics, gymnastics and the gym, and she believes a lot of it is down to good role-modelling.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe sees me and Lorri <\/a>take good care of ourselves. There\u2019s no better message. Honestly, Sunday\u2019s got abs, it\u2019s hysterical! But yes, this whole trend does worry me. It\u2019s a shame to see women in the public eye that now seem to be disappearing in front of our eyes.\u201d<\/p>\n

We need to talk ‘real bodies’ she says(Image: QV Skincare)<\/p>\n

It\u2019s important that we talk about real bodies, she continues \u2013 adding that if you saw her naked, you\u2019d see the little \u201c pregnancy<\/a> pouch\u201d that most women who have given birth never get rid of. \u201cAnd that should be celebrated.\u201d<\/p>\n

As for her home life, the star says the \u201cjuggle is real\u201d. But as a self-confessed homebody, she loves nothing more than hanging out with her crew.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m a social butterfly, but I schedule entire weekends in mine and Lorri\u2019s joint calendar where we plan to just stay home. And I secretly love it when plans get cancelled! Our life is governed by the school run \u2013 everything else is just\u2026 carnage.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ferne\u2019s mum is a huge support and the couple also have a nanny who helps a couple of days a week, as they have Finty at home. \u201cWe don\u2019t know if Finty<\/a>\u2019s going to be our last baby,\u201d she says.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf we do have another, it will probably be in a few years\u2019 time \u2013 but if she is our last, we want to squeeze every last drop of joy from having her around, before she starts at Sunday\u2019s school next September.”<\/p>\n

Their little one, says Ferne, is a \u201ctotal character\u201d and just as sociable as her famous mother. \u201cIn Italy she was toddling up to people\u2019s tables, asking people what their name was!<\/p>\n

\u201cSunday\u2019s not as forthcoming, but she\u2019s coming out of her shell, too. She\u2019s our little sports star and super-competitive. She wants to be an Olympian when she grows up and I just think, you go girl \u2013 somebody\u2019s got to do it!\u201d<\/p>\n

Sunday <\/a>is currently studying for her LAMDA certificate in singing, but as Ferne \u2013 who was once offered a record deal \u2013 softly shakes her head, it tells us everything. \u201cI\u2019m not saying a word to her, because my dad once told me I\u2019d \u2018only ever be a pub singer\u2019. And I\u2019m telling you \u2013 that\u2019s a core memory, I\u2019ve never forgotten!\u201d<\/p>\n

Ferne has previously been very candid about her and Lorri\u2019s relationship suffering as they navigate the parenting trenches together \u2013 but they have a solid New Year<\/a> \u2019s resolution \u2013 to get away together soon for a long weekend, without the kids.<\/p>\n

The only time they\u2019ve escaped alone since they met was in Puglia last summer for good pal Vicky Pattison\u2019s wedding<\/a> \u2013 but they had to fly home the next day.<\/p>\n

She muses, \u201cYou might be compatible as romantic partners, but you don\u2019t often ask, are we compatible as parents? That first year or two of having a child together with Lorri was really challenging. We were filming our reality show as well, it was a lot of pressure.<\/p>\n

\u201cThings feel like they\u2019ve evened out now. We still have so much fun, Lorri and I, when we have the time \u2013 it\u2019s just so hard to find it!\u201d She\u2019s usually so tired, she grins, that they\u2019ll cosy up at home to watch a boxset together, and she promptly falls fast asleep.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe only thing we argue about really is diary management \u2013 it\u2019s the silly things,\u201d she says. \u201cRight now, dinnertime is where I\u2019m in my element, and it\u2019s where we love coming together to chat about our days. There are ups and downs, of course there are \u2013 but we\u2019re a team, no matter what\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n

Ferne and Lorri have been engaged since 2021 <\/a>\u2013 but there\u2019s still no talk of a wedding. Has there been any progress on that front, we ask? \u201cThat\u2019s the golden question!\u201d she says. \u201cIt\u2019s not the plan at the moment, as we just don\u2019t have the time.<\/p>\n

“We want to plan the wedding of our dreams, definitely abroad, laid-back island vibes, maybe Spain? But we\u2019re more likely to have another baby first, to be honest.\u201d<\/p>\n

If they were to expand their brood,<\/a> Ferne jokes, hilariously, that she just can\u2019t imagine having a little boy. \u201cIt has to be a girl. I can\u2019t be dealing with willies! I\u2019m a girl mum, through and through.\u201d<\/p>\n

What Ferne does know is that she\u2019ll be unveiling a huge project later this year, which will see her work more \u201cbehind the scenes\u201d than before \u2013 but can say no more right now.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, she\u2019s excited to be a UK ambassador for top Australian skincare brand QV Skincare. \u201cI love it, my mum\u2019s used it for years! My skin routine these days is so simple, I don\u2019t have the time and skincare can also feel overwhelming,\u201d she says.<\/p>\n

As for maintaining her healthy figure, Ferne\u2019s weekly workout schedule \u2013 one day with her PT, a couple of metabolics classes and tennis on Fridays \u2013 plus Monday to Friday \u201cclean eating\u201d will continue apace, but she\u2019s all about moderation, she grins.<\/p>\n

The star, who launched her Food With Ferne app<\/a> last September, adds, \u201cLife\u2019s for living! I\u2019m the world<\/a> \u2019s biggest foodie. I\u2019d never give up my favourite foods for how I might look in the mirror. To suppress or remove that from my life would be a complete tragedy.\u201d<\/p>\n

She, Lorri and the girls look forward to a cheeky takeaway at the weekend, and Ferne feels zero guilt about getting stuck into a bag of popcorn if they have a family movie night.<\/p>\n

\u201cI never work out on a weekend, but we never stop \u2013 chasing the kids, walking in the park,\u201d she says. \u201cDon\u2019t get me wrong, I\u2019ve still got cellulite on my bum \u2013 I could still pick myself apart if I wanted to, but it\u2019s not realistic and I\u2019m still confident.<\/p>\n

“Women strive for perfection but it doesn\u2019t exist. And isn\u2019t the quest for perfection just so bloody… boring?!\u201d<\/p>\n
