{"id":687041,"date":"2026-01-10T16:02:14","date_gmt":"2026-01-10T16:02:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/687041\/"},"modified":"2026-01-10T16:02:14","modified_gmt":"2026-01-10T16:02:14","slug":"snow-day-fun-as-storm-goretti-grips-solihull","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/687041\/","title":{"rendered":"Snow day fun as Storm Goretti grips Solihull"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&#13;<br \/>\n\t\t\tA BLANKET of snow has covered Solihull.<\/p>\n<p>Families took to the gardens and parks to create their very own snowmen, go head to head in snowball fights and headed up the hills to have a go at sledging.\n<\/p>\n<p>While others, like Ted, preferred to stay in the warm and admire the snowy scenes.<\/p>\n<p>Schools and colleges across the borough have been contacting parents to say whether they are open or if children can spend the day in the snow.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile waste and recycling collections were suspended in Solihull due to the conditions of the roads.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Solihull Council said: \u201cIf your refuse has been missed, please put your rubbish and any additional bagged rubbish out for your next scheduled collection on January 16.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf your recycling has not been collected, please leave your recycling bins out and we will return week commencing January 12.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The runway at Birmingham Airport reopened at 7.15am following an overnight closure.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>On X the airport said: \u201cOur runway has reopened on a reduced basis, and our teams are working to get passengers away as efficiently as possible.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhilst we apologise for any inconvenience Storm Goretti has caused, the safety of our colleagues and customers is our number one priority.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPassengers due to travel are advised to check the status of their flight with their airline.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\t\t\t&#13;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"&#13; A BLANKET of snow has covered Solihull.
