{"id":687324,"date":"2026-01-10T19:00:10","date_gmt":"2026-01-10T19:00:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/687324\/"},"modified":"2026-01-10T19:00:10","modified_gmt":"2026-01-10T19:00:10","slug":"operations-halted-at-major-scottish-hospital-due-to-burst-pipe","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/687324\/","title":{"rendered":"Operations halted at major Scottish hospital due to burst pipe"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n  The incident occurred at Glasgow&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thenational.scot\/topics\/queen-elizabeth-university-hospital\/?ref=au\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Queen Elizabeth University Hospital<\/a> when a water leak in one of the building\u2019s plant rooms affected the power supply, forcing the closure of the main operating theatres.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  <a href=\"https:\/\/www.glasgowtimes.co.uk\/topics\/nhs-greater-glasgow-clyde\/?ref=au\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde<\/a> (NHSGGC) confirmed the issue but said it has since been resolved.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  <img   width=\"100%\"\/>Queen Elizabeth University Hospital\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The Daily Record reports almost half of the planned surgeries scheduled on Friday were cancelled as a result of the incident &#8211; while 26 went ahead, 25 had to be postponed or rescheduled.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The hospital is running extra theatres this weekend to ensure urgent cases are dealt with.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  <strong>READ MORE:<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thenational.scot\/news\/25755638.labour-slammed-cock-up-will-see-scottish-citys-funding-slashed\/?ref=ed_latest\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Labour slammed for &#8216;cock up&#8217; which will see Scottish city&#8217;s funding &#8216;slashed&#8217;<\/strong><\/a>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n    An NHSGGC spokesperson said the issue was identified quickly by staff on site.\n  <\/p>\n<p>\n    They told the Record: \u201cOur estates and facilities team identified a burst pipe which resulted in an electrical power outage in one of the plant rooms at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.\u201d\n  <\/p>\n<p>\n  She added: \u201cOn-site technical teams worked quickly to repair the problem which is now fully resolved.
