Steven Eubanks, 51, said he felt compelled to attend a protest in Durham, North Carolina, because of what he called the \u201chorrifying\u201d killing of Renee Nicole Good<\/a> by the ICE agent in Minneapolis on Wednesday.<\/p>\n \u201cWe can\u2019t allow it,\u201d Eubanks told The Associated Press news agency. \u201cWe have to stand up.\u201d<\/p>\n Senior Trump administration officials have justified Good\u2019s killing, saying she \u201cweaponised\u201d her vehicle and threatened the life of the ICE officer who shot and killed her.<\/p>\n But video footage from the scene<\/a> showed Good attempting to drive away before being shot by ICE agent Jonathan Ross.<\/p>\n The incident has renewed scrutiny of Trump\u2019s push to deploy heavily armed law enforcement officers to carry out an anti-immigrant crackdown across the US, with local authorities demanding that ICE agents leave their cities.<\/p>\n The killing of Good, a 37-year-old mother of three, came as the US Department of Homeland Security pushes ahead with what it has called its largest-ever immigration enforcement operation in the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and Saint Paul.<\/p>\n \u2018ICE Out For Good\u2019<\/p>\n Many of Saturday\u2019s protests were dubbed \u201cICE Out for Good\u201d, with organiser Indivisible saying the rallies aimed to \u201cmourn the lives taken and shattered by ICE and to demand justice and accountability\u201d.<\/p>\n In Minneapolis, a coalition of migrant rights groups called for a demonstration at Powderhorn Park, a large green space near the residential neighbourhood where the deadly shooting occurred on Wednesday.<\/p>\n They said the rally would call for an \u201cend to deadly terror on our streets\u201d.<\/p>\n Reporting from a rally in Minneapolis on Saturday afternoon, Al Jazeera\u2019s Manuel Rapalo said the protesters have been expressing outrage \u201cbut overwhelmingly, we hear people say they\u2019re here to demonstrate peacefully.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019re also hearing a lot of calls for justice.
