Last year marked another bumper year for Northern Ireland’s incredible TV and film industry – and we love to see it!<\/p>\n

Hollywood stars, award-winning series, and gripping documentaries have once again showcased Northern Ireland<\/a> on the global stage and put our wee country on the map.<\/p>\n

A whole host of more exciting projects are expected to come to our screens in 2026 after top actors and buzzing crews were spotted across the country filming throughout the year.<\/p>\n

Here are a number of films and TV series filmed in 2025 that we hope to see on our screens very soon:<\/p>\n

How to Get to Heaven from Belfast\"Roisin<\/p>\n

Everyone’s favourite Derry girl is back with an exciting new series on Netflix.<\/p>\n

How To Get To Heaven From Belfast is the newest creation from Lisa McGee, the writer and creator of the acclaimed Channel 4 comedy Derry Girls<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Clever, chaotic TV writer Saoirse, glamorous, stressed-out mother of three Robyn, and dependable, inhibited carer Dara have been a tight-knit group since school.<\/p>\n

Now in their late 30s, but still as close as ever, these three friends are about to embark on the most thrilling adventure of their lives.<\/p>\n

When an email arrives, telling them about the death of the estranged fourth member of their childhood gang, Greta, a series of eerie events at her wake set them on a dark, dangerous and hilarious odyssey through Ireland and beyond as each tries to piece together the truth of the past.<\/p>\n

With filming completed at the end of 2024, we will finally see it on the streaming service next month.<\/p>\n

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms<\/p>\n

Shot between June and September 2024, it would only be fitting for the newest instalment in the world of Games of Thrones to return to shoot in Northern Ireland.<\/p>\n

Adapted from George R. R. Martin\u2019s novella \u201cThe Hedge Knight,\u201d the first season of \u201cA Knight of the Seven Kingdoms\u201d will follow the exploits of the knight Ser Duncan the Tall and his young squire, Egg roughly 100 years before the events of \u201cGame of Thrones\u201d and 100 years after the events of \u201cHouse of the Dragon.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ser Duncan the Tall, an Egg, wandered through Westeros while the Targaryen dynasty ruled the Iron Throne, and dragons were still remembered. Great destinies and enemies await the incomparable friends.<\/p>\n

It will air on Sky Atlantic and Now TV from Monday 19th January, with a second series already filming again in NI currently.<\/p>\n

The Death of Robin Hood<\/p>\n

A new take on the classic legend directed by Michael Sarnoski, starring the Wolverine and Greatest Showman star alongside Jodie Comer is set to come out later this year.<\/p>\n

Filming<\/a> took place in Northern Ireland and was completed in March 2025, with production based at Belfast Harbour Studios, and was supported by Northern Ireland Screen.<\/p>\n

Northern Ireland Screen said: “Described as a darker and more introspective reimagining, the story follows an older, battle-scarred Robin Hood confronting the consequences of a violent past.<\/p>\n

“Severely wounded, he finds himself under the care of a mysterious woman who may offer him a path toward redemption, a sharp departure from traditional portrayals of the legendary outlaw.”<\/p>\n

Off Course<\/p>\n

Hollywood actor Bill Murray is set to explore Northern Ireland in his new golfing series Off Course, expected to air in 2026.<\/p>\n

Golf is the hook and Bill\u2019s insatiable curiosity is the magic, as he takes on some of the most iconic courses both north and south of the border in “a love letter to both the game and the place that shaped the Murray clan”.<\/p>\n

The series follows Murray and friends across some of the island\u2019s most breathtaking fairways – but this is no ordinary golf show, it\u2019s about life, chance encounters and the joy of going gloriously off course.<\/p>\n

A description of the show reads: “Off Course captures candid, unscripted moments woven with the wit, warmth, and wonder of Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.<\/p>\n

“The series offers an intimate portrait into a country whose stories, people and craic are just as unforgettable as Bill Murray himself. Golf is just the excuse!”<\/p>\n

Do You Know Your Place?<\/p>\n

A brand-new quiz show, Do You Know Your Place, presented by Vernon Kay who is accompanied by The Traitors star Paul Gorton was commissioned by the BBC at the end of last year.<\/p>\n

Made in Belfast by local company Stellify Media, each episode will see Vernon put his three celebrity guests\u2019 knowledge of the UK to the test, with the help or hindrance from The Traitors alumni Paul Gorton as he acts as Vernon\u2019s \u2018unreliable\u2019 tour guide.<\/p>\n

Paul will be out and about, in a different town or city each episode, setting questions to the celebs back in studio – their job… to decipher fact from fiction. They will also play games with Vernon in studio and the celeb with the most correct answers wins, with an overall winner being crowned at the end of the week.<\/p>\n

Although no air date has been announced, we can expect to see the new quiz format on BBC 2 later this year.<\/p>\n

Crookhaven<\/p>\n

Filmed in Northern Ireland last summer, Crookhave is a thrilling kids drama based on the hit global book series by JJ Arcanjo.<\/p>\n

The series flips the high school genre on its head with a gripping, morally complex, twisty mystery rooted in identity, loyalty and found family.<\/p>\n

Set in a secret school for crooks the series follows a group of students as they are taught to perfect their skills to bring balance, justice and order to the outside world. Uncovering the dark secrets of Crookhaven, the gang are also confronted by a terrifying enemy – The Nameless.<\/p>\n

In October, the BBC said the series will span eight episodes and land on BBC iPlayer early next year.<\/p>\n

The Finish Line<\/p>\n

Filming for the fourth series of a BBC quiz show took place here at the end of last year, with it set to air in 2026.<\/p>\n

The Finish Line sees contestants put through their paces in a race format, hosted by Roman Kemp and Sarah Greene.<\/p>\n

Knowledge equals speed and the more you know, the further you go. In each episode, contestants will battle across a series of qualifiers and head-to-head races for the chance to win a cash prize of \u00a35,000.<\/p>\n

Roman said he was “so happy” to return to Northern Ireland last year to film the newest series.<\/p>\n

Ronan Keating’s Wild Atlantic<\/p>\n

Ronan Keating\u2019s Wild Atlantic is an Irish travelogue will take audiences on an epic journey to a place that he loves: the Wild Atlantic Coast of Ireland, one of the most magical, beautiful and healing places on earth.<\/p>\n

Coming to screens soon, audiences will get an insight to Ronan\u2019s childhood and family life. Part of the series was filmed in Derry.<\/p>\n

Co-commissioned between BBC Daytime and BBC Northern Ireland, it has been produced as part of the Hot House initiative and made by Alleycats TV with support from Northern Ireland Screen.<\/p>\n
