KING Charles and Queen Camilla are set to visit Canada.<\/p>\n

Buckingham Palace<\/a> has confirmed the royal couple will fly out on May 26 before heading back to the UK the following day.<\/p>\n

They will attend The State Opening of the Parliament<\/a> of Canada in Ottawa – the first time the monarch has done so since Queen Elizabeth in 1977.<\/p>\n

The Palace’s statement says: \u201cThe King, accompanied by The Queen<\/a>, will attend The State Opening of the Parliament of Canada, in Ottawa.\u201d<\/p>\n

Charles was previously reported to be “concerned” about the growing discord<\/a> between the US and Canada.<\/p>\n

In March, the monarch held a meeting with Canadian PM\u00a0Justin Trudeau<\/a>, after the Commonwealth<\/a> leader faced pressure from the US.<\/p>\n

Canada<\/a>\u00a0continues to face tensions with\u00a0Donald Trump<\/a>‘s administration, as he has called for America’s neighbours to become the US 51st state.<\/p>\n

Charles<\/a>\u00a0is Canada’s head of state and the monarch is seemingly worried as Trump and Trudeau continue to clash, reported\u00a0The Times.<\/a><\/p>\n

King meets veterans at Windsor<\/p>\n

It comes after Charles, Camilla and Prince William hosted some of the bravest military veterans<\/a> on Wednesday night at Windsor, leaving the latter “in awe”. <\/p>\n

Next week the nation will mark 80 years since Germany<\/a> surrendered on May 8, 1945, ending the war in Europe<\/a>. Commemorations kick off on Bank Holiday Monday.<\/a><\/p>\n

The Cenotaph will be dressed in Union flags and 1,300 service personnel will take part in a military procession from Whitehall to Buckingham Palace.<\/a><\/p>\n

An RAF<\/a> flypast featuring World War Two and modern aircraft will zoom over London<\/a> before the Royal Family <\/a>entertain 50 veterans at a tea party in Buckingham Palace<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Brits to get Bank Holiday bonanza this year to celebrate VE Day with star-studded concert, flypast & 4 days of events<\/p>\n

On Thursday\u2019s anniversary, Government offices will observe the two-minute silence, with other organisations asked to follow suit.<\/p>\n

Later, DJ Zoe Ball<\/a> will host a two-hour party in front of 10,000 guests at Horse Guards Parade to be shown live on BBC One.<\/a><\/p>\n

Pubs<\/a> and bars have also been granted permission to stay open for an extra two hours until 1am.<\/p>\n

On the last big landmark, for VE Day<\/a> 75, most stayed at home in Covid lockdown.<\/a><\/p>\n

Culture Secretary Lisa Nandy<\/a> said it was a \u201cchance for us to celebrate our veterans and ensure their legacy of peace is passed on\u201d.<\/p>\n

An installation of more than 20,000 ceramic poppies, some in the shape of a Lancaster bomber, was unveiled at Lincoln\u2019s<\/a> International Bomber Command Centre.<\/p>\n
