Largs<\/a>, just 45 minutes from the city, also featured on the list.\n<\/p>\n\n The Fry Magazine is now in its 14th year of the awards, which celebrate excellence in fish and chips across the UK, naming 50 of the best takeaways and 10 top restaurants.\n <\/p>\n
\n The awards are judged through unannounced visits by mystery judges, who mark takeaways on food quality, cleanliness, staff knowledge, value for money, ease of ordering and social media presence.\n<\/p>\n
\n Only the highest-scoring shops receive an award, making it a coveted honour within the industry.\n<\/p>\n
\n The pass mark this year was 97% for takeaways and 96% for restaurants, with some businesses achieving a perfect 100%.\n<\/p>\n
\n Reece Head, competition organiser, praised this year\u2019s winners, saying:\u00a0\u00a0\u201cCongratulations to this year\u2019s Fry Award winners.\n <\/p>\n
\n “Over the past 12 months, these operators have faced significant challenges, including higher wage costs, rising energy bills and exceptional pressure on fish prices.\n<\/p>\n
\n “Despite this, they have maintained consistently high standards, supported and motivated their teams, and kept customers informed as changes were needed.\n<\/p>\n
\n “That commitment was evident to our mystery judges and is what secured each business a place among the UK\u2019s leading fish and chip shops.\n<\/p>\n
\n “Exceptionally high pass marks of 96% and 97% were set this year, demonstrating the consistently high shop standards in place.\n<\/p>\n
\n \u201cTheir success proves that our nation\u2019s favourite takeaway remains nutritious, great value and stronger than ever.\u201d\n<\/p>\n
