The city announced a \u201cXXL festival\u201d to \u201ccelebrate music\u201d and \u201coffer an immersive Eurovision experience\u201d to its visitors, including in the program the broadcast of the semi-finals and the final, a 200 m\u00b2 roller skating rink, a special Abba evening, together with food trucks and free concerts. Louane, the representative for France at Eurovision 2025, is expected to perform too.<\/p>\n<p>Fr\u00e9d\u00e9ric Musslin, organiser of the Eurovision Village, explained how the project was born:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>we know the attachment that exists between Basel, Fribourg and Mulhouse. The desire to cooperate is increasingly present. (\u2026) Here, there was a real request from the Basel municipality, which approached the one of Mulhouse. This is where the project started.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>300,000 to 500,000 visitors are expected in the area around Basel, but the entry to the Eurovision Village in Mulhouse will be limited to 5,000 visitors.<\/p>\n<p>France will be represented this year by Louane and her song \u201cMaman\u201d. As a Big Five member, France is automatically qualified for the Grand Final of May 17. Since then they have participated in every contest aside from 1974 and 1982. Their withdrawal in 1974 was caused by the death of President Georges Pompidou, while 1982\u2019s withdrawal was a result of TF1 declining to enter the contest. France has won the contest on five occasions, the most recent being in 1977 when Marie Myriam performed \u201cL\u2019oiseau et l\u2019enfant\u201d.
