Manchester United have been forced to issue a statement after club captain Bruno Fernandes’s X account was hacked and a deluge of explicit posts were made from his official page. <\/p>\n

The first of the series of bizarre posts was made at 11.12pm on Sunday, with hackers on his account writing “Join Macclesfield FC. Excited for the future”, referencing the National League North side who knocked out FA Cup holders Crystal Palace on Saturday<\/a>. <\/p>\n

The hacker went on to post “u my n****”, tagging popular British YouTuber Olajide “JJ” Olatunji, better known as KSI. <\/p>\n

Other messages included “Jake Paul beat AJ but you aren\u2019t ready for that conversation”, and an invitation to two-time World Darts champion Luke Litter for a “1v1” on FIFA. <\/p>\n

The compromised account also wrote “let’s get rid of INEOS”, the global chemical firm led by British billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe, who purchased a 25 per cent stake in Manchester United in 2023. <\/p>\n

In a final message, the hacker posted an image of the scoreboard from when the Red Devils were hammered 7-0 by arch rivals Liverpool at Anfield.<\/p>\n

Shortly after the posts were made, Manchester United’s official account issued a short statement.<\/p>\n

It read: “Bruno Fernandes\u2019s X account has been hacked. <\/p>\n

“Supporters should not engage with any of the posts or direct messages.”<\/p>\n

The hacker responded by writing “f*** no way, I’ll spread the word.<\/p>\n

The hacker has now appeared to been kicked out of Fernandes’ account, with all posts made deleted. <\/p>\n

The identity of the individual behind the posts remains unknown. <\/p>\n

Accounts of famous footballers and clubs have been targeted in this way on a number of occasions. <\/p>\n

In 2024, Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappe saw his X account taken over. <\/p>\n

The hacker posted a series of bizarre messages, including “this midget is not my goat”, with a picture of Lionel Messi underneath, and claims that the French striker was joining Manchester United. <\/p>\n

Ex-Spain goalkeeper Iker Casillas met the same unfortunate fate, with a post from his account reading, “I hope you respect me: I’m gay”, with his former teammate Carlos Puyol jokingly replying: “It’s time to tell our story.”<\/p>\n
