{"id":690512,"date":"2026-01-12T06:41:13","date_gmt":"2026-01-12T06:41:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/690512\/"},"modified":"2026-01-12T06:41:13","modified_gmt":"2026-01-12T06:41:13","slug":"brisbane-broncos-confirm-training-plans-for-world-club-challenge-as-star-man-makes-trophy-vow","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/690512\/","title":{"rendered":"Brisbane Broncos confirm training plans for World Club Challenge as star man makes trophy vow"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<img width=\"1200\" height=\"800\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/WP9_1571.jpg\" class=\"attachment- size- wp-post-image\" alt=\"\" decoding=\"async\" fetchpriority=\"high\"  \/>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p><strong>Brisbane Broncos have revealed their training plans ahead of their World Club Challenge clash against Hull KR, and will use a state-of-the-art training base to prepare for the fixture.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Head coach Michael McGuire, who was boss of South Sydney Rabbitohs when the side defeated St Helens 39-0 in the competition in 2015, vowed to take the competition seriously, and with their schedule now set, it\u2019s fair to say the Broncos have pulled out all the stops to defeat the Robins.<\/p>\n<p>Flying to the UK on February 10, just over one week before the game, the NRL Champions will use The Lensbury training centre in London, a world class facility used by the likes of the All Blacks and Manchester United in previous years.<\/p>\n<p>The pitches there are classed as Grade 5, the same as Wembley Stadium, with the complex also having gym and swimming facilities, as well as professional chefs on hand to cook personalised meals for the players.<\/p>\n<p>Before they make the trip to the Northern Hemisphere, the club will go on a two-week training camp in Toowoomba, as they look to dot the i\u2019s and cross the t\u2019s ahead of their 2026 campaign.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Check out the latest episode of The Serious About Rugby League Show on <a href=\"https:\/\/youtube.com\/@seriousaboutrl?si=fQO3ZwntkT1m2cwR\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">our YouTube channel here.<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Brisbane Broncos star makes ambitious World Club Challenge plea<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Talking to the AAP, an Australian media outlet, Broncos star Corey Jensen, has spoken about what it would mean to the club if they were to lift the trophy on February 19.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt the Broncos we strive to win trophies,\u201d he said. \u201cThat has been our motto since Madge [Michael Maguire] came to the club.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are under no illusions that they want to win it the same way we want to. It is going to be a good test. An Australian team hasn\u2019t won it for a while.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe English take it personally so it is up to us to match it with them and bring the trophy back to Australia.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The last time an NRL side won the competition was back in 2020, when Sydney Roosters defeated St Helens in the UK, with the Chooks taking a 20-12 victory.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.seriousaboutrl.com\/brisbane-broncos-world-club-challenge-injury-update-amid-key-mans-surgery-111626\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Whilst Broncos star Patrick Carrigan has been deemed fit to play<\/a>, the same can\u2019t be said just yet for fellow forward, Brendan Piakura.<\/p>\n<p>The back rower has picked up a knee injury in training, but the club are yet to confirm the prognosis.<\/p>\n<p>Commenting in his teammates\u2019 knock, Jensen said: \u201cHe is getting around okay in the gym.
