Jack Draper continues to impress on the ATP Tour as he now prepares for his semi-final match in Madrid.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The world number six entered this year\u2019s Madrid Open<\/a> having never previously reached a clay-court semi-final.<\/p>\n

He\u2019s now done so at one of the sport\u2019s biggest tournaments, thanks to Draper\u2019s win over Matteo Arnaldi<\/a> in the last eight.<\/p>\n

Draper will take on Italy\u2019s Lorenzo Musetti<\/a> in the semi-finals, as he looks to qualify for his second Masters 1000 final of the season.<\/p>\n

Following his quarterfinal win, the 23-year-old highlighted something he sees two of his biggest ATP<\/a> rivals do regularly, that he\u2019s trying to incorporate into his own game.<\/p>\n

Jack Draper says he wants to \u2018go after every ball\u2019 like Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz<\/p>\n

During an interview with Sky Sports, Draper<\/a> reflected on the development of his game over recent years, and pinpointed the improvement he needs to make to compete with the very best in men\u2019s tennis.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\u201cBackhand has always been a shot I can hit with my eyes closed, because I am right handed that has always come quite naturally to me,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut the forehand has taken a lot of work, especially the first two years we started working together [with coach James Trotman], we were doing a lot of things technically on it to try and get the ball out in front, I was always hitting the ball late and short.<\/p>\n

\u201cI guess as things have progressed and as I have gotten more confident, I have believed in the shot a lot more and the consistency of doing the right things on it, day in and day out, and committing to every ball.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think as the levels go up, you have to have no fear. You see [Carlos] Alcaraz<\/a> and [Jannik] Sinner, and they go after every ball without fear.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am just trying to go after it, I suppose.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Brit then pointed out another area of his game he plans to work on, looking to fellow lefty Rafael Nadal<\/a> for inspiration.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf anything, I think I hit too many balls to the forehand,\u201d said Draper.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe righty\u2019s, sometimes I don\u2019t get my feet right and pull the ball into the backhand, someone like Rafa [Nadal] would go a lot more into the backhand.<\/p>\n

\u201cMaybe that is one area I am going to keep on trying to improve, but all in all, my forehand is doing a lot of damage out here and I have to keep that up.\u201d<\/p>\n

Draper\u2019s determination to improve should strike fear into his ATP Tour rivals, as he continues to rise up the rankings.<\/p>\n

The Brit will debut in the top five next week, and if he can develop his game even further, then it wouldn\u2019t come as too much of a surprise to see him challenge for the number one spot before too long.<\/p>\n
