A man has been charged after human remains were discovered inside of a flat. On Thursday night (January 8) police swarmed the St Helens<\/a> residence and made the discovery after reports of concern were made.<\/p>\n

George Gordon, 65, of Gerards Court in St Helens was arrested at the scene and has been charged with preventing lawful and decent burial of a dead body<\/a> and obstructing a coroner in the execution of his\/her duty. Merseyside Police said the person is yet to be formally identified.<\/p>\n

A 58-year-old has also been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender<\/a>. He remains in police custody and will be questioned. Gordon<\/a> will appear at Liverpool Magistrates Court on Monday morning, January 12.<\/p>\n

Merseyside police<\/a> were called to the scene at around 11.30pm and forensics remained on the scene the following day.<\/p>\n

Several police vehicles, along with a mobile police station were stationed in the carpark outside the block of flats and a white forensic tent had been erected to the rear of the building.<\/p>\n

CSI officers were spotted going back and forth between the flat and police vans, carrying items including a backpack.<\/p>\n
