The Office for Open Research<\/a>\u00a0is pleased to announce our newly appointed\u00a0Fellow20)s 2025\/26<\/a>\u00a0as part of the\u00a0Open Research Fellowship Programme<\/a>\u00a0at The University of Manchester.\u00a0<\/p>\n

What Is the Open Research Fellowship Programme?<\/strong>\u00a0The Fellowship Programme is funded via the University’s Research Culture and Environment Framework<\/a>\u00a0and is part of the University’s commitment to enhancing\u00a0Research Culture<\/a>.\u00a0This initiative\u00a0seeks\u00a0to champion open and reproducible research\u00a0practices and\u00a0contribute\u00a0to a more diverse and inclusive community at\u00a0our\u00a0University. The\u00a0Programme offers financial support covering salary costs, this year\u00a0for one day a week for\u00a0up to\u00a07 months, allowing\u00a0Fellows to focus on\u00a0their own Open\u00a0Research\u00a0interests.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Goals\u00a0and Benefits:<\/strong>\u00a0The Fellowship Programme aims to cultivate a new generation of\u00a0Open\u00a0Research\u00a0champions\u00a0at the\u00a0University. Fellows become part of a network of\u00a0champions\u00a0and\u00a0contribute\u00a0to the\u00a0dissemination of knowledge and best practices in Open Research\u00a0within their disciplines and across the University. \u00a0<\/p>\n

Introducing\u00a0the 2025\/2026\u00a0Open Research Fellows\u00a0and their projects:<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n

Ashma Krishnan, Faculty\u00a0of\u00a0Biology,\u00a0Medicine\u00a0and\u00a0Health:<\/strong>\u00a0IMproving\u00a0the usefulness and impact of research Pre-REGistration\u00a0(IMPREG).\u00a0<\/p>\n

Danna Gifford,<\/strong>\u00a0Faculty of Biology,\u00a0Medicine\u00a0and Health:<\/strong>\u00a0Building capacity for open research with large-scale microbial genomics data.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Guilherme Fians,\u00a0Faculty of\u00a0Humanities:<\/strong>\u00a0Recognising wiki contributions as co-produced research outputs: A toolkit for open scholarship.<\/p>\n

Phil Reed, Faculty of\u00a0Science and\u00a0Engineering:<\/strong>\u00a0Continuing digital research technical professional (dRTP) career development at Manchester, nationally and beyond.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Open Research at The University of Manchester:\u00a0<\/strong>Last year, Professor Duncan Ivison (President and Vice-Chancellor, The University of Manchester) was in conversation with Swara Patel (PhD student, Cancer Research UK Manchester Institute) and Dr Cathal Rogers (Research Culture and Assessment Manager, The University of Manchester) regarding Open Research at The University of Manchester. This video highlights how Open Research reflects our values as an institution, enhances the impact\u00a0of\u00a0our\u00a0<\/strong>research\u00a0and the importance of programmes such as the Open Research Fellows to progress Open Research at The University of Manchester.\u00a0<\/p>\n
