AI THOUGHT leaders and innovators are being\u00a0sought\u00a0for a new taskforce that will inform,\u00a0shape\u00a0and drive the way Artificial Intelligence is used and developed in the\u00a0Liverpool City Region.\u00a0<\/p>\n
From accelerating medical research\u00a0to\u00a0revolutionising\u00a0learning in schools\u00a0and\u00a0transforming industry,\u00a0the\u00a0City Region is home to world\u2011leading\u00a0AI\u00a0expertise\u00a0and infrastructure\u00a0\u2013 with local researchers,\u00a0businesses\u00a0and public services already using the cutting\u2011edge technology to improve lives.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Made up of volunteers, the\u00a0new\u00a0expert\u00a0advisory group\u00a0will\u00a0help shape the City\u00a0Region\u2019s\u00a0long-term\u00a0AI strategy\u00a0to ensure Artificial Intelligence is used responsibly, effectively and for the greatest public benefit.\u00a0<\/p>\n
It will also\u00a0guide the\u00a0UK\u2019s first regional\u00a0Chief AI\u00a0Officer, Tiffany St James,\u00a0in crafting a roadmap that puts\u00a0the\u00a0Liverpool City Region\u00a0firmly\u00a0at the\u00a0global\u00a0forefront of harnessing AI for Good.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Establishing the Task Force is\u00a0a\u00a0key\u00a0part of\u00a0delivering Mayor Steve Rotheram\u2019s\u00a0AI ambitions and\u00a0follows the success of the City Region\u2019s second AI Summit in October, which welcomed internationally renowned speakers\u00a0and\u00a0showcased\u00a0the\u00a0region\u2019s\u00a0AI strengths.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Local initiatives include the\u00a0Combined Authority-led\u00a0piloting of\u00a0AI\u2011powered learning in\u00a045\u00a0City Region primary schools.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Liverpool City Region Mayor Steve Rotheram said:\u00a0 \u201cI want the Liverpool City Region to be the home of \u2018AI for Good\u2019.\u00a0For me,\u00a0that\u2019s\u00a0about innovation that puts us at the heart of the AI revolution, improves the lives of our 1.6 million residents, and creates opportunities for local people and businesses.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cThis taskforce will help shape how artificial intelligence is developed and used across our region in a way that\u2019s ethical, inclusive, and of course focused on people.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
Members will\u00a0design a co-ordinated roadmap for AI adoption and innovation, spanning health, education, transport,\u00a0industry\u00a0and public services, helping to\u00a0identify\u00a0opportunities,\u00a0challenges\u00a0and emerging trends.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Individuals with knowledge of key sectors such as health and social care, transport and education are particularly encouraged to apply.\u00a0Successful applicants will join the Task Force for two years, meeting quarterly in the\u00a0region. UK travel expenses will be reimbursed.\u00a0<\/p>\n
