London is blessed when it comes to <a href=\"https:\/\/londontheinside.com\/map\/best-chinese-restaurants\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Chinese restaurants<\/a>, meaning we are rich in Chinese dumplings.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>There\u2019s the chewy and translucent prawn-filled har gau and the steamed, flower-like siu mai at <a href=\"https:\/\/londontheinside.com\/location\/my-neighbours-the-dumplings\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">My Neighbours the Dumplings<\/a>, Tao Tao Ju and Royal China Club, and the delicately wrapped, soup-filled xiao long bao at <a href=\"https:\/\/londontheinside.com\/location\/beijing-dumpling\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Beijing Dumpling<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/londontheinside.com\/location\/din-tai-fung\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Din Tai Fung<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/londontheinside.com\/location\/dumplings-legend\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Dumplings\u2019 Legend<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/londontheinside.com\/loti-eats-dim-sum-duck\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Dim Sum &amp; Duck<\/a>. <a href=\"https:\/\/londontheinside.com\/xi-home-dumplings-bay-review\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Xi Home Dumplings Bay<\/a> specialises in shui jiao, Northern-style boiled dumplings, while <a href=\"https:\/\/londontheinside.com\/from-dumplings-to-hot-fried-chicken-how-one-street-food-brand-is-shaping-the-citys-food-scene\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Dumpling Shack<\/a> brings us sheng jian bao, the pan-fried soup dumplings of Shanghai.<\/p>\n<p>New <a href=\"https:\/\/londontheinside.com\/map\/hackney\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Hackney<\/a> dim sum and cocktail bar <a href=\"https:\/\/londontheinside.com\/paper-tiger-has-brought-dumplings-and-cocktails-to-hackney\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Paper Tiger\u2019s<\/a> dumpling offering includes pork &amp; Chinese cabbage, chicken &amp; courgette, and egg &amp; Chinese chive, which are all based on family recipes from Beijing. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DS4qXSWiAz9\/?img_index=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Summer Dumpling<\/a>, a recent addition to <a href=\"https:\/\/londontheinside.com\/map\/islington\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Angel<\/a>, is doing handmade boiled and pan-fried dumplings, with a few non-traditional touches, like a golden cheese, corn and chicken combo and prawn dumplings topped with crisps and caviar. Dim Sum Library, sister to Aqua Restaurant Group\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/londontheinside.com\/enter-the-dragon-48-hours-of-hong-kongs-hottest-nightlife\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Hong Kong<\/a> spot, is also creating modern twists on classic dumplings, with the likes of dan dan xiao long bao and black garlic siu mai on the menu.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"950\" height=\"760\" data-id=\"283193\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml,%3Csvg%20xmlns=\" http:=\"\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/dim-sum-library-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-283193 lazy\" data- data-\/>Dim Sum Library<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"950\" height=\"760\" data-id=\"283449\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml,%3Csvg%20xmlns=\" http:=\"\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/summer-dumpling.jpg\" alt=\"prawn dumplings with crisps\" class=\"wp-image-283449 lazy\" data- data-\/>Summer Dumpling<\/p>\n<p>And that\u2019s not the only Cantonese import that\u2019s hit the capital recently, with wonton noodle soup also in the spotlight. Wontons, the dumplings (made with a thinner, usually square wrapper and usually filled with prawn and pork), are a common sight on many Chinese menus in London, from Cafe TPT to Poon\u2019s to <a href=\"https:\/\/londontheinside.com\/location\/ling-lings-has-a-new-residency-at-godet\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Ling Ling\u2019s at Godet<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Wonton noodle soup, where the wontons are served in a flavourful broth with thin egg noodles, is now cropping up more and more. Joining bowls at the likes of Reindeer Cafe, Happy Dim Sum, <a href=\"https:\/\/londontheinside.com\/location\/wong-kei\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Wong Kei<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/londontheinside.com\/location\/plum-valley\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Plum Valley<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/londontheinside.com\/bun-house-disco-review-chinatowns-bun-house-has-got-a-fun-little-sister\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Bun House Disco<\/a> (where you can also get saucy wontons and crispy wontons), is <a href=\"https:\/\/londontheinside.com\/the-mr-bao-team-is-opening-a-wonton-noodle-soup-bar\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Wonton Charlie\u2019s<\/a>, the new London Fields spot from the group behind Mr Bao. The restaurant does three types of hand-wrapped wontons \u2013 pork-filled fish skin (a HK specialty where fish is used in the wrapper dough), prawn, and classic pork \u2013 with handmade noodles and chicken and fish broths.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Falling in love with the single-dish restaurants in Hong Kong \u201cthat just focus on serving up wonton noodle soup and executing every element really well\u201d was the inspiration behind Wonton Charlie\u2019s, with the team also keen to showcase the fish skin wontons \u201cthat are increasingly hard to find in Hong Kong.\u201d These are made from pollock, minced in-house, seasoned and thrown to develop the proteins, before being rolled out and cut into square wrappers.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>At the end of January, <a href=\"https:\/\/londontheinside.com\/a-hong-kong-wonton-noodles-spot-is-coming-to-covent-garden\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">HOKO Wonton Noodles,<\/a> from the team behind HOKO Cafe, the cha chaan teng on <a href=\"https:\/\/londontheinside.com\/map\/shoreditch\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Brick Lane<\/a>, will be part of the crew.
