Transport for London is also trying to limit the number of bus routes that overlap with each other.<\/p>\n<p> Which London bus routes could be affected? <\/p>\n<p>The <strong>six services<\/strong> set to see significant changes coming their way (wow, try saying that after a couple of pints) are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>19 (currently runs between <a href=\"https:\/\/secretldn.com\/things-to-do-in-finsbury-park\/\" rel=\"follow noopener\" target=\"_self\" class=\"shortcode-outbound-link\" data-has-ga=\"true\" data-ga-type=\"click\" data-label=\"https:\/\/secretldn.com\/things-to-do-in-finsbury-park\/\" data-action=\"text_cta_1\" data-category=\"click_internal\">Finsbury Park<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/secretldn.com\/things-to-do-in-battersea\/\" rel=\"follow noopener\" target=\"_self\" class=\"shortcode-outbound-link\" data-has-ga=\"true\" data-ga-type=\"click\" data-label=\"https:\/\/secretldn.com\/things-to-do-in-battersea\/\" data-action=\"text_cta_2\" data-category=\"click_internal\">Battersea Bridge<\/a>)<\/li>\n<li>38 (currently runs between <a href=\"https:\/\/secretldn.com\/things-to-do-victoria-london\/\" rel=\"follow noopener\" target=\"_self\" class=\"shortcode-outbound-link\" data-has-ga=\"true\" data-ga-type=\"click\" data-label=\"https:\/\/secretldn.com\/things-to-do-victoria-london\/\" data-action=\"text_cta_3\" data-category=\"click_internal\">Victoria<\/a> Bus Station and <a href=\"https:\/\/secretldn.com\/things-to-do-in-clapton\/\" rel=\"follow noopener\" target=\"_self\" class=\"shortcode-outbound-link\" data-has-ga=\"true\" data-ga-type=\"click\" data-label=\"https:\/\/secretldn.com\/things-to-do-in-clapton\/\" data-action=\"text_cta_4\" data-category=\"click_internal\">Clapton<\/a> Pond)<\/li>\n<li>259 (currently runs between Edmonton Green and <a href=\"https:\/\/secretldn.com\/things-to-do-in-kings-cross\/\" rel=\"follow noopener\" target=\"_self\" class=\"shortcode-outbound-link\" data-has-ga=\"true\" data-ga-type=\"click\" data-label=\"https:\/\/secretldn.com\/things-to-do-in-kings-cross\/\" data-action=\"text_cta_5\" data-category=\"click_internal\">King\u2019s Cross<\/a>)<\/li>\n<li>349 (currently runs between Stamford Hill and Ponders End)<\/li>\n<li>424 (currently runs between Putney Heath and Fulham)<\/li>\n<li>279 (currently runs between Waltham Cross and Manor House)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p> <img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-255204 size-full\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml,%3Csvg%20xmlns=\" http:=\"\" alt=\"a london bus crossing a bridge with a view of tower bridge in the background\" width=\"1200\" height=\"800\" data-lazy- data-lazy- data-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/pexels-olgalioncat-7245319-1.jpg\"\/>Photo by Olga Lioncat, via Pexels What are the proposed changes to these routes? Route 19 <\/p>\n<p>Route 19 is one of London\u2019s most iconic bus routes, having been ferrying folk around the capital city for almost <strong>120 years<\/strong>. TfL is proposing that the this route now be extended to Victoria Station after it reaches Hyde Park Corner, thus cutting out the sections that runs to <strong>Battersea Bridge<\/strong> via the likes of Knightsbridge, Sloane Square, and the King\u2019s Road. The frequency of the number 19 would also be increased from every 15 minutes to every 12 minutes on Sunday mornings.<\/p>\n<p> Route 38 <\/p>\n<p>The number 38 is the<strong> 15th busiest bus route<\/strong> in the capital and shares a fair bit of its route with the number 19. TfL have proposed for the route to terminate at Holborn instead of Victoria and for frequency to decrease from every 6 minutes to every 10 minutes on Saturdays and from every 7-8 minutes to every 12 minutes on Sundays (and early mornings and evenings)<\/p>\n<p> Route 259 <\/p>\n<p>This route would be altered to run between Ponders End and the Nag\u2019s Head in Holloway, thus getting rid of<strong> a direct link to King\u2019s Cross<\/strong>. This is in a bid to reduce overlapping services on Caledonian Road.<\/p>\n<p> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-166209 size-full\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml,%3Csvg%20xmlns=\" http:=\"\" alt=\"buses on a London street, right outside Big Ben\" width=\"2048\" height=\"1366\" data-lazy- data-lazy- data-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/shutterstock_583939735-min-scaled.jpg\"\/>Credit: Sergii Figurnyi, Shutterstock Route 349 <\/p>\n<p>This particular bus route overlaps with a fair few other services, TfL\u2019s proposal involves <strong>scrapping this route altogether<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p> Route 424 <\/p>\n<p>Due to congestion on Putney High Street, the proposed plans would see this route restructured to run between Putney Heath and Upper Richmond Road (instead of the current route to Fulham). A new route would potentially be created to operate between <strong>Putney Bridge and Fulham<\/strong>, but this route would not run particularly frequently.<\/p>\n<p> Route 279 <\/p>\n<p>This route is the <strong>8th busiest bus route in the city<\/strong> but is still in the running to be altered in TfL\u2019s plans.
