As much as both players enjoy the doubles game, both competitors have a desire to achieve more singles success.

Therefore, both players have begun to play less doubles tennis, but when they do play, they have been playing with different partners.

Despite this, both players maintain a good relationship but Gauff did not suggest the chance of reunion in the near future.

“Jess and I, we’re cool. Well, she invited me to go to movies, but she didn’t follow-up on that (laughing). I don’t know if y’all saw that,” Gauff told reporters at the Madrid Open.

“But, yeah, Jess and I are cool, and all the people I played doubles in the past are cool. It’s just more, I mean, we both, I mean, Jess is playing less doubles too, me as well.

“This week I played doubles and I enjoyed it, and I’m deciding in Rome maybe I’ll play or not, kind of depends on how I feel.

“I think it helps me. I definitely won’t be playing a full schedule, or definitely won’t be playing in the slams, but every now and then I think it’s good just to go out there, because I think it brings me joy to play, and then it translates into my singles.”

Photo by Robert Prange/Getty ImagesJessica Pegula says if she will play doubles with Coco Gauff again

Pegula and Gauff won four titles as a doubles team, three of which came at WTA 1000 events. They also reached the 2022 French Open final as well as two other WTA 1000 finals.

The pair also became the World number one in doubles and competed at the 2023 WTA Finals in 2022 and 2023.

Prior to playing doubles with Desirae Krawczyk at the Stuttgart Open, Pegula is unsure when she will play doubles with Gauff again.

“Yeah, I mean, Coco and I played so much for a couple years there. We did great. A lot of really amazing results and memories,” she said. “At the same time doing well in the singles court, we obviously didn’t want to play as much anymore.

“The schedule just gets really, really tough. I’ve barely played this year, probably won’t play any of the Grand Slams this year. This week I’m playing with Desirae Krawczyk, who is a really good friend of mine.
