{"id":694925,"date":"2026-01-14T07:47:12","date_gmt":"2026-01-14T07:47:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/694925\/"},"modified":"2026-01-14T07:47:12","modified_gmt":"2026-01-14T07:47:12","slug":"north-glasgow-area-working-on-very-first-community-album","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/694925\/","title":{"rendered":"North Glasgow area working on very first community album"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n  Around 30 people from Milton, who face isolation and other challenges, have been taking part in free weekly workshops on guitar-playing, singing and songwriting.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Now, Milton Arts Project is preparing to release its debut record, with members having written and recorded their own songs with guidance from professional musicians.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The group provides a creative outlet for people adjusting to life after facing a range of challenges and the album has been made possible thanks to a \u00a31400 donation from the Allied Vehicles Charitable Trust.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The funding covers 10 professional recording sessions, giving participants an opportunity to share their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.glasgowtimes.co.uk\/news\/25684437.glasgow-easterhouse-school-pupils-musical-win-top-city-award\/?ref=ed_direct\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">musical talents<\/a> with the rest of the city.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  <img   width=\"100%\"\/>Joe McMonagle (Image: Newsquest)\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Joe McMonagle, treasurer of Milton Arts Project, said: \u201cSo many people in Milton and the surrounding areas are on their own, and they have nothing to fill their day.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  \u201cFor them to be able to come here, socialise and record songs they have written or helped to write \u2013 it&#8217;s incredible how valuable that is.\u201d\u00a0\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Member Brian Scott said: \u201cIn my time at the Thursday club I have seen people grow in their guitar-playing skills, but also in confidence, and I&#8217;ve seen friendships created.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  \u201cThe enjoyment that we get on a Thursday is a joy to behold.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  <img  \/><\/p>\n<p>\n  David Facenna, corporate culture director at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.glasgowtimes.co.uk\/news\/25629841.allied-vehicles-unveil-partnership-bank-us-campaign\/?ref=ed_direct\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Allied Vehicles Group<\/a>, visited Milton Arts Project\u2019s Thursday music group and joined in with a few songs.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  <img   width=\"100%\"\/>David Facenna (Image: Newsquest)\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  He said: \u201cWe\u2019re committed to supporting projects that make a real difference in local communities.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  \u201cMilton Arts Project is providing an important space for people who are facing isolation to socialise and share the joy and connection of making music together.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  \u201cTheir community album is a fantastic idea, and we\u2019re delighted to support it.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Joe added: \u201cAn album project like this restores self-confidence and self-esteem, and that&#8217;s what this group is all about.
