{"id":694935,"date":"2026-01-14T07:52:11","date_gmt":"2026-01-14T07:52:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/694935\/"},"modified":"2026-01-14T07:52:11","modified_gmt":"2026-01-14T07:52:11","slug":"the-standout-boroughs-at-this-years-london-parade","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/694935\/","title":{"rendered":"The standout boroughs at this year&#8217;s London Parade"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n  Havering, Redbridge, Lewisham, and Sutton were among the standout performers in this year\u2019s London Parade, with each borough earning awards and cash prizes for their creative entries.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The parade, described as the &#8220;biggest and best&#8221; in its 40-year history, drew huge crowds to the West End and reached a global audience through more than 1,000 TV stations.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Joe Bone, executive director of London Parade, said: &#8220;We are thrilled to see such an incredible display of community spirit and imagination from all participating boroughs.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  &#8220;Congratulations to Havering, Redbridge, Lewisham and Sutton for their remarkable achievements.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  &#8220;Their entries truly embodied the essence of the London Parade.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  &#8220;We asked participants to \u2018give the World a smile\u2019 \u2013 and boy, they did just that.&#8221;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Topping the London Borough competition was Havering, which secured first place and a \u00a315,000 prize for its entry Once Upon a Panto.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The judges praised Havering\u2019s creativity and community involvement.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Second place went to Redbridge.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Redbridge was led by mayor Cllr Beverley Brewer and deputy mayor Cllr Joe Hehir.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  It earned \u00a310,000 for an entry that reflected the borough\u2019s &#8216;Clean and Green&#8217; mission.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Lewisham came third, winning \u00a35,000.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Its entry was celebrated for its energy and focus on culture and diversity.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Street artist Nathan Bowen helped bring the concept to life with a journey-themed display.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  It featured Dende Nation, the 2025 Notting Hill Carnival Samba Group of the Year.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Sutton was awarded a special prize of \u00a34,000.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Other participating boroughs\u00a0Barnet, Camden, Enfield, Hackney, Merton and the City of Westminster\u00a0each received \u00a32,000.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Over 500,000 spectators are estimated to have lined the route.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The London Parade has raised more than \u00a33 million for mayoral charities over its 40-year history.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  This year\u2019s event was described as a celebration of creativity, inclusion and London pride.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Organisers said the borough competition remains a highlight of the parade, inspiring friendly rivalry and giving communities a chance to showcase their talent.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Havering, Redbridge, Lewisham, and Sutton were among the standout performers in this year\u2019s London Parade, with each borough&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":694936,"comment_status":"","ping_status":"","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[7757],"tags":[748,393,4884,257,16,15],"class_list":{"0":"post-694935","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-london","8":"tag-britain","9":"tag-england","10":"tag-great-britain","11":"tag-london","12":"tag-uk","13":"tag-united-kingdom"},"share_on_mastodon":{"url":"https:\/\/pubeurope.com\/@uk\/115892371051164931","error":""},"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/694935","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=694935"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/694935\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/694936"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=694935"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=694935"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=694935"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
