Village.<\/p>\n<p>The arrangement has seen the land leased to firms Cruden and CCG.<\/p>\n<p>Between them they will build a mix of private and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thescottishsun.co.uk\/topic\/social\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">social<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thescottishsun.co.uk\/topic\/housing\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">housing<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>There are already 700 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thescottishsun.co.uk\/topic\/houses\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">houses<\/a> and flats on the site, with a further 125 coming with the second phase.<\/p>\n<p>Cruden will build 67 private homes which will be put up for sale while CCG will build the social housing.<\/p>\n<p>Building <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thescottishsun.co.uk\/topic\/work\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">work<\/a> is set to begin later this year or in the start of 2026.<\/p>\n<p>Officials say the homes are expected to be built by 2028.<\/p>\n<p>Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games: did they leave a lasting legacy?<\/p>\n<p>Councillor Ruairi Kelly, Convener for Housing, Development and Land Use at Glasgow City Council, said: &#8220;This is great news for Dalmarnock and for the East End. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Work can soon begin to build over 100 much-needed homes for both sale and social rent, building on the remarkable regeneration of this neighbourhood and transforming a site that has been vacant for some time.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The Athletes&#8217; Village was heralded as bringing regeneration to one of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thescottishsun.co.uk\/topic\/scotland\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Scotland<\/a>&#8216;s poorest areas.<\/p>\n<p>But despite hopes more investment will come into the area with the new development, some residents last year told The Scottish Sun on Sunday <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thescottishsun.co.uk\/sport\/13193046\/commonwealth-games-legacy-glasgow\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">there are still issues more than a decade after it was built<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Despite more homes being on the way but those living there have complained about a lack of shops and other crucial amenities.<\/p>\n<p>One woman, 36, moved in just after the athletes left and doesn\u2019t share the optimism.<\/p>\n<p>She said: \u201cI have no <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thescottishsun.co.uk\/topic\/complaints\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">complaints<\/a> with the house \u2014 I just wish it was somewhere else.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s a lot of antisocial behaviour.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFights happen most <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thescottishsun.co.uk\/topic\/weekends\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">weekends<\/a>, there\u2019s a lot of fly-tipping and some of the houses already need a fair bit of work outside.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI would never have thought about moving here before the Games.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was so nice when they were first built.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut we\u2019re in dire need of more shops and things for kids to do.<\/p>\n<p>Read more on the Scottish Sun<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s like the land that time forgot.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Another tenant complained about problems with the plumbing in buildings saying dirty water has risen up through toilets and baths in a number of properties.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"#\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Illustration of 125 new social and private homes.\" height=\"539\" width=\"960\" data-credit=\"Glasgow City Council\" data-img=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/125-new-social-private-homes-991588173.jpg\" data-caption=\"Over 100 new homes will be built\"   loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/125-new-social-private-homes-991588173.jpg\" role=\"img\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>4<\/p>\n<p>Over 100 new homes will be builtCredit: Glasgow City Council<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"HUNDREDS of new homes are set to be built on the site of a legendary sporting event.
