{"id":695206,"date":"2026-01-14T10:51:12","date_gmt":"2026-01-14T10:51:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/695206\/"},"modified":"2026-01-14T10:51:12","modified_gmt":"2026-01-14T10:51:12","slug":"ballymore-secures-planning-permission-for-1685-home-scheme-in-east-london-news","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/695206\/","title":{"rendered":"Ballymore secures planning permission for 1,685-home scheme in east London | News"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Property developer Ballymore has received planning permission for 1,685 new homes in Newham, east London, as part of a wider redevelopment of the north bank of the Thames.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The site at Thames Road will include 173 homes for social rent, as well as 359 co-living suites, a new primary school and 13,500sq m of light industrial and flexible workspace.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Architect Howells will design the site, known as UNEX, which will also include riverside mansion blocks, townhouses and a new park.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"picture\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"05 Camera B 07\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/2021939_05camerab07_349983.jpg\"  loading=\"eager\" class=\"lazyloaded\" width=\"5000\" height=\"3333\"\/><\/p>\n<p>\u201cSecuring consent for Thames Road is a significant milestone and a strong endorsement of the ambition and care that has shaped these proposals,\u201d said John Mulryan, group managing director at Ballymore.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur commitment to the Royal Docks spans decades, and this approval allows us to build on the success of Royal Wharf.\u201d<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Mulryan said construction on the site would likely begin next year.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Ballymore submitted plans for a sister site in 2024, which would include 1,667 new homes at Knights Road, just a few minutes from Thames Road. The proposals are still waiting for a decision from Newham council.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The developer has previously completed major regeneration schemes in the Royal Docks with Oxley Holdings, such as Royal Wharf and Riverscape.
