Craig Guildford was first asked by MPs about the West Ham game – which never existed – on 1 December., external<\/a><\/p>\n

He told them: “Within my narrative, which I have compiled over the weekend, the
\none assertion in relation to West Ham is completely wrong. <\/p>\n

“I am told that
\nis a result of some social media scraping<\/b> that was done, and that is wrong.
\nThat was one element in a document that was eight or nine pages long,
\nbut we stand by the key tenets in the document.”<\/p>\n

He was then asked by Paul Kohler MP: “Hold on\u2014so you did an AI search, got something about West
\nHam and just whacked it into the…”<\/p>\n

Guildford replied: “No, not at all. We do a very comprehensive
\nassessment.”<\/p>\n

On 6 January<\/a>, Guildford again denied that AI had been used.<\/p>\n

“There was a definite note that
\nwe have got to the bottom of in terms of the West Ham game. <\/p>\n

“The
\nsummation in the House\u2014it was a question that was asked in the
\nHouse\u2014was that West Midlands Police may have used AI on this
\nparticular occasion. We do not use AI<\/b>.<\/p>\n

“On the West Ham side of things and how we gained that information, in
\nproducing the report, one of the officers would usually go to… a system, which football officers use all over
\nthe country, that has intelligence reports of previous games. <\/p>\n

“They did not
\nfind any relevant information within the searches that they made for that.
\nThey basically Googled when the last time was<\/b>. That is how the
\ninformation came to be.”<\/p>\n

Chair Karen Bradley asked: “Was it the AI function on Google?”<\/p>\n

Guildford replied: “I am being really candid here. I am told
\nthat they just did a Google search<\/b> on that because they could not find it
