A number of \u201cviable pipe bomb devices\u201d have been recovered following a security alert in Belfast.<\/p>\n
It comes after emergency services attended the scene of the alert earlier in the day in the Divis Road area.<\/p>\n
PSNI Detective Inspector Lenaghan said: \u201cAt approximately 3.50pm on Tuesday 13th January, police received a report that a suspicious object had been located in the area.<\/p>\n
\u201cOfficers attended the scene along with Ammunition Technical Officers and a number of viable pipe bomb-type devices were discovered.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe devices have been made safe and they have since been removed from the scene and taken away for further forensic examination. Cordons have been lifted and the road reopened to traffic.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur enquiries are ongoing and we appeal to anyone with any information that could assist with the investigation to contact detectives on 101, quoting reference number 1018 13\/01\/26.\u201d<\/p>\n

It is the second security alert on a mountain road in Belfast in 24 hours.<\/p>\n
A short distance away an alert is continuing on the Upper Hightown Road in the north of the city.<\/p>\n

The road remained closed overnight as ATO attended an incident there close to Cave Hill.<\/p>\n
