Pep Guardiola insists he won’t retire when he leaves Manchester City but will take some time away from football.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Guardiola<\/a> began his legendary tenure at the Etihad Stadium in 2016 after delivering huge success at Barcelona and Bayern Munich.<\/p>\n

The Spaniard has won six Premier League titles and the Champions League with City<\/a>, and signed a two-year extension in November.<\/p>\n

His contract now runs until 2027 and when speaking to ESPN Brasil, he revealed his intentions of taking a break when he leaves City.<\/p>\n

“After my contract with City, I’m going to stop. I’m sure,” he said<\/a>.<\/p>\n

“I don’t know if I’m going to retire, but I’m going to take a break. How I want to be remembered, I don’t know.”<\/p>\n

And when Sky Sports asked him about his future plans, he echoed his previous comments but made it clear that it won’t happen soon.<\/p>\n

“I didn’t say I’m leaving now, or the end of the season,” he said before their 1-0 win against Wolves. “Well, if they sack me, yes!<\/p>\n

“I said when I finish my time here, I don’t know, one year, two years, three years, four, five, six, I don’t know, I will take a break. <\/p>\n

“So I’m not retiring, but I will take a break, for sure.”<\/p>\n

He then reiterated: “When I finish here, I will take a break. I need to make a stop, that’s all.”<\/p>\n

Guardiola’s arrival nine years ago marked the beginning of City’s dominance in English football.<\/p>\n

Last season, they became the first Premier League team in history to win four consecutive titles.<\/p>\n

During his near-decade stint at the club, only Chelsea and Liverpool have been crowned English champions other than City.<\/p>\n

The 2024\/25 campaign has been his toughest yet as their form towards the end of last year saw their title challenge quickly vanish.<\/p>\n

City were also knocked out of the Champions League in the knockout phase play-offs by Real Madrid.<\/p>\n

However, they are still in contention to win the FA Cup and will play Crystal Palace in the final on May 17.<\/p>\n
