Robert Lewandowski created Champions League history against Borussia Dortmund to all-but seal Barcelona’s passage into the semi-finals.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The veteran striker scored twice against his former employers in the Blaugrana<\/a>‘s 4-0 win in their quarter-final first leg tie at the Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys.<\/p>\n

Lewandowski<\/a> brought up his tenth and 11th goals in Europe’s premier competitions this season in the 48th and 66th minute respectively.<\/p>\n

In doing so, the 36-year-old has become the first person to score at least ten goals in a single Champions League campaign for three different clubs.<\/p>\n

The Poland international banged in ten goals for BVB in the 2012\/13 season, before hitting double digits in both the 2019\/20 and 2021\/22 seasons while at Bayern Munich<\/a>.<\/p>\n

And in what is his third year with Barca, he has finally notched in at least ten goals in Europe.<\/p>\n

Not even Cristiano Ronaldo<\/a> could manage that, having only hit double digits at Real Madrid despite also representing Manchester United<\/a> and Juventus in the competition.<\/p>\n

Lewandowski is now on 40 strikes for the season in all competitions, and is just one goal shy of hitting a century for the Spanish side.<\/p>\n

Incredibly, Lewandowski has scored more goals against Dortmund than any other side – a cruel pill to swallow for fans who worshipped him during his four-year stay at Signal Iduna Park between 2010-2014.<\/p>\n

The centre forward, who won two Bundesliga titles under Jurgen Klopp<\/a>‘s tutelage, has now fired in 29 times against Dortmund from 28 appearances.<\/p>\n

Not wanting to be overshadowed by Lewandowski, his teammate Raphinha<\/a> also wrote himself into the record books.<\/p>\n

The Brazilian winger broke the deadlock in the 25th minute, before notching up two assists – for Lewandowski and Lamine Yamal.<\/p>\n

In doing so, he now boasts a whopping 19 goal involvements in the Champions League this term.<\/p>\n

With 12 goals, he is the competition’s leading scorer, while no other player has recorded more than his seven assists.<\/p>\n

The former Leeds fan favourite has now equalled Lionel Messi<\/a>‘s Barcelona record of registering 19 goal involvements in a single Champions League season.<\/p>\n

Messi created club history in the 2011\/12 campaign where he found the back of the net on 14 occasions, while laying on five goals for his teammates.<\/p>\n

And Raphinha will be looking to have the record for his own when Barcelona face Dortmund in Germany next week.<\/p>\n

With Barcelona already having one foot in the last-four, he could also break the record in a possible semi-final tie against either Bayern or Inter Milan<\/a>.<\/p>\n
