Advanced technology and defence firms EDGE Group and Indra Group have formalised plans to create a new defence manufacturing company in Spain.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

The companies said the new entity will concentrate on the development, production, and support of loitering munitions and smart weapons for Spanish and European defence projects.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The agreement, pending final approval from both companies\u2019 boards, would\u00a0establish\u00a0the manufacturing entity in Spain.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Production will centre on EDGE\u2019s knowledge in loitering munitions and smart weapons, with operations supporting manufacturing, assembly, and lifecycle services.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The planned factory for loitering munitions will\u00a0be located in\u00a0Villadangos\u00a0de P\u00e1ramo, Le\u00f3n.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Indra intends to invest approximately\u00a0\u20ac20m\u00a0($23.3m) into the facility, which is projected to create up to 200 jobs once\u00a0operating\u00a0at full capacity.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Additionally, the company plans to open a UAV micro-engine manufacturing facility in Valladolid, Spain.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

The agreement was signed by\u00a0EDGE Group\u00a0managing director\u00a0and CEO\u00a0Hamad Al Marar\u00a0and\u00a0Indra Group\u00a0CEO\u00a0Jos\u00e9 Vicente de Los Mozos.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Among others present at the signing were Spain\u2019s Secretary of State for Defence, Amparo Valcarcel, UAE Ambassador to Spain, H.E. Saleh Ahmad Salem Al Suwaidi, Spanish Ministry of Industry General Director of Industrial Programmes, Alberto Ruiz Rodr\u00edguez, EDGE Group\u00a0chairman, H.E. Faisal Al\u00a0Bannai, and Indra Group\u00a0executive\u00a0chairman, \u00c1ngel Escribano.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Indra and EDGE intend, through this initiative, to\u00a0establish\u00a0industrial capabilities in Europe that support both national and export requirements by integrating weapons technology with large-scale manufacturing and programme execution capacity.\u00a0<\/p>\n

EDGE Group\u00a0managing director\u00a0& CEO Hamad Al Marar\u00a0said: \u201cEstablishing this joint venture with Indra in Spain marks a decisive step in EDGE\u2019s expansion into Europe.
