A major road near to Manchester Airport was closed by emergency crews on Wednesday evening (January 14) with a car left with a crushed bonnet following a collision.<\/p>\n

Police, paramedics and fire crews attended the smash at the junction with Finney Lane and Styal Road on the Heald Green area at around 5pm. It involved two vehicles, with a silver Toyota seen badly damaged on a pedestrian island.<\/p>\n

Two casualties were cared for at the scene by paramedics from the North West Ambulance Service. Greater Manchester Police said it was thought those involved sustained minor injuries.<\/p>\n

Pictures showed a large emergency response at the scene, including fire crews and paramedics. The road remained closed for around an hour while the scene was cleared.<\/p>\n

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said: \u201cShortly after 5pm this evening (Wednesday 14 January), three fire engines from Wythenshawe<\/a> and Cheadle<\/a> fire stations, alongside the technical response unit from Leigh, were called to attend a road traffic collision involving two vehicles near Finney Lane, Manchester.<\/p>\n

\u201cCrews arrived quickly and worked alongside Greater Manchester Police<\/a> to make the area safe. Two casualties were transferred into the care of North West Ambulance Service.
