Photograph: Michel Euler\/EPA<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">In an overnight message on social media, <strong>Macron said a first group of French military personnel were already headed to Greenland<\/strong> to participate in an exercise organised by Denmark and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/world\/greenland\" data-link-name=\"in body link\" data-component=\"auto-linked-tag\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Greenland<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">\u201cAt Denmark\u2019s request, I have decided that France will participate in the joint exercises organised by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/world\/denmark\" data-link-name=\"in body link\" data-component=\"auto-linked-tag\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Denmark<\/a> in Greenland,\u201d Macron wrote. \u201cThe first French military elements are already en route.
