{"id":697467,"date":"2026-01-15T10:50:14","date_gmt":"2026-01-15T10:50:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/697467\/"},"modified":"2026-01-15T10:50:14","modified_gmt":"2026-01-15T10:50:14","slug":"calverley-library-conversion-on-track-ahead-of-auction","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/697467\/","title":{"rendered":"Calverley: Library conversion &#8216;on track&#8217; ahead of auction"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"has-text-align-right\"><strong>By John Baron<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Refurbishment work on converting Calverley Mechanics Institute into a library are \u2018on track\u2019, council chiefs have confirmed.<\/p>\n<p>WLD\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/westleedsdispatch.com\/confirmed-calverley-library-to-move-following-consultation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported last year<\/a>\u00a0that services at the existing Calverley Library in Thornhill Street are to move to the Mechanics in a bid to save Leeds City Council money.<\/p>\n<p>Leeds Building Services have this week confirmed that the \u00a3213,000 refurbishment work remains on track, with completion and handover expected next week. <\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"900\" height=\"675\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/1000015825-900x675.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-177818\"  \/>Plans: Calverley Library. Photo: Anne Akers<\/p>\n<p>Installation of new library furniture is scheduled to begin on Monday, 19 January.<\/p>\n<p>The library service will begin decommissioning the existing Calverley Library building following the last day of service on Saturday, 24 January.
