The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for Merseyside as a thick blanket of fog begins to settle across the region. The warning is in place from 8pm this evening (January 15) until around 3am on Friday, with fog expected to affect the whole of Merseyside.<\/p>\n
Reduced visibility could impact journey times for motorists and passengers using bus and rail services. Forecasters say the fog may combine with chilly overnight conditions, increasing the risk of frost in some areas.<\/a><\/p>\n In its latest forecast, the Met Office<\/a> said: “Any patchy rain in the far southeast will clear, followed by clear spells overnight. Some low cloud will linger over higher ground, with a few showers developing in the west later.<\/p>\n “It will be a cold night, with frost patches forming. Minimum temperature 0C.\u201d<\/p>\n Looking ahead to Friday, conditions are expected to turn cloudier through the morning, with occasional showers developing during the day.<\/p>\n Lodge Lane shrouded in fog this evening(Image: Liverpool Echo)<\/p>\n Some showers could be heavy at times, particularly over higher ground in the north, where they may turn wintry. Brighter spells are forecast to emerge later in the afternoon, with temperatures reaching a maximum of around 8C.<\/p>\n Fog is also expected to remain a feature into the weekend, particularly overnight and in the early mornings.
