We’re now halfway through the January transfer window, but there is little sign of Liverpool adding to the squad this winter. Injuries have hit the Reds hard at times this season, but still they haven’t seen fit to move for a new addition this month.<\/p>\n
Conor Bradley’s unfortunate season-ending blow at Arsenal has only shifted the potential for reinforcements into even sharper focus, but Arne Slot remains seemingly happy with the options he has at his disposal.<\/p>\n
And against that backdrop, our Reds fans’ jury take a look at the potential for any incomings this month as they assess the latest goings on at Anfield.<\/p>\n

On a practical level, of course, his absence does also leave Arne Slot\u2019s side that bit more stretched, particularly defensively, and understandably loudened calls to recruit within the January transfer window.<\/p>\n The squad-adjustment challenges that bringing in a non-homegrown player could present do, arguably, make the possibility of signing Crystal Palace centre-back Marc Gu\u00e9hi \u2013 who would instead take up one of the available homegrown spots \u2013 additionally attractive. How feasible that is, is a multi-layered question of its own.<\/p>\n There are several potential routes forward for Liverpool, and the greater stability of recent weeks has the potential to boost the upsides of them all. Sticking, rather than twisting, is a move that has often aged well for the club in recent times. That may prove the chosen, and correct, course of action here.<\/p>\n The squad retains a certain durability and flexibility, but we are now walking more of a tightrope. With that in mind, accelerating a potential summer move \u2013 with the intention of reinforcing both the short and long term \u2013 may strike the happiest balance.<\/p>\n Andrew Cullen<\/strong><\/p>\n It\u2019s been relatively quiet on the transfer front, which is perhaps unsurprising given the summer signing surge. The transfer temperature should be warmer, though, because of our defensive frailties, now more alarming and pressing with Bradley\u2019s desperately frustrating injury.<\/p>\n The obvious signing, which is flashing in green neon light, is the Marc Guehi deal. Why was that deal not completed when the clock struck to open the January window?<\/p>\n During the Klopp era, we were ruthless, shrewd, and fast in our transfer activity. It was almost like Liverpool were out of the traps much quicker, like we were thinking a couple of moves ahead on the chess board.<\/p>\n The case for defensive reinforcements this window becomes compelling if for a moment we think about what defensive shape we would be in if Konate or Virgil had some time out through injury. It feels like we are threadbare at the back, and if we were to suffer further injuries, can we really achieve anything domestically or in Europe? It would be a bold ask.<\/p>\n Some fans feel that it\u2019s not just the starting line-up that needs strengthening: some have suggested a change in the dugout. With Xabi Alonso\u2019s departure from Madrid, there were a few Liverpool brows raised.
