The major project at Chamberhall Business Park next to Peel Way is set to be greenlit by councillors tonight, on Thursday, January 15.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">If approved, the council-owned plot \u2013 about the size of three football pitches \u2013 will be flogged off to Crown Gas &amp; Power Limited (CG&amp;P), who plan to build their new headquarters at the town-centre spot.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Councillor Eamonn O\u2019Brien, leader of Bury Council, said: \u201cThis scheme would deliver high-quality employment space in a sustainable, accessible location, and bring a long-term vacant brownfield site back into productive use, unlocking 7,000 square metres of flexible employment space for offices and industrial uses.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/0_24180-CGP-Entrance-View.jpg\" loading=\"lazy\"  \/><\/p>\n<p aria-label=\"\" class=\"ImageCaption_caption-title__ccyQU\" data-testid=\"caption-title\">(Image: CG&amp;P \/ Barrowclough Architects Ltd)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">\u201cIt would also provide new skills and training opportunities, particularly for young people and those not currently in education, employment, or training.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">He added the scheme would also make Bury \u2018even more attractive to investors and businesses\u2019 and promote similar developments that could bring a broader range of jobs into the town centre.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">The site is part of the wider Chamber Hall site, which has been redeveloped by St. Modwen Developments over recent years. While other parts of the regeneration scheme have been a \u2018success\u2019, according to the council, this parcel of land has remained undeveloped.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Previous attempts to sell the site in 2022 fell through due to changes in the market affecting the viability of the site, which is estimated to be worth around \u00a31,8m.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/0_24180-CGP-Night-View.jpg\" alt=\"The site could bring 250 new jobs to the borough.\" loading=\"lazy\"  \/><\/p>\n<p aria-label=\"The site could bring 250 new jobs to the borough. \" class=\"ImageCaption_caption-title__ccyQU\" data-testid=\"caption-title\">The site could bring 250 new jobs to the borough. (Image: CG&amp;P \/ Barrowclough Architects Ltd)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">The new CG&amp;P offices will generate around \u00a3310,000 per year in business rates, create 250 new jobs, and could generate as much as \u00a38m for the local economy through employees making use of nearby shops and cafes, according to council reports.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">The company is a locally based family-owned business that serves around 2.5pc of the UK\u2019s commercial gas market, and one per cent of the UKs power. The owner family already operates several businesses within the borough, including at offices and workshops in Pilsworth and the town centre, and is also investing heavily in Warth Business Park with the development of a new Adblue production facility.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Matthew Greensmith, Managing Director of the Crown Oil Group, said: \u201cWe\u2019re proud of our roots in Bury and excited about the opportunity to develop a new headquarters for Crown Gas &amp; Power that supports the business\u2019s continued growth.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Council leaders will decide whether to release the land at a Cabinet Meeting tonight.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The scheme could bring a multi-million pound boost to the local economy.
