A man and a woman have died after a fire engulfed a North London home in the early hours of this morning (Friday, January 16). Some 25 firefighters were called to Albemarle Road in Barnet <\/a>shortly before 1.45am to reports of the incident.<\/p>\n London Fire Brigade<\/a> (LFB) has confirmed the fire broke out on the ground floor of the semi-detached house of two floors. Firefighters removed a man and woman from the property before they were pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.<\/p>\n The fire was brought under control by 3.14am with crews from Barnet, Southgate and Finchley station in attendance. A Brigade and Metropolitan Police<\/a> investigation is underway to discover the cause of the fire.<\/p>\n A LFB spokesperson said: “Sadly, two people have died following a house fire in Barnet. Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters responded to a fire on Albemarle Road, Barnet.<\/p>\n “The fire was located on the ground floor, in a semi-detached house of two floors. A man and a woman were removed from the property by firefighters. Sadly, both were declared dead at the scene by paramedics from the London Ambulance Service.<\/p>\n “The Brigade was first called about the incident at 0144, and crews from Barnet, Southgate and Finchley fire stations attended the scene. Firefighters had the incident under control by 0314. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Brigade and Metropolitan Police Service.”<\/p>\n
