up in the building, at around 2pm on Friday, January 16, 2026.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  <a href=\"https:\/\/www.glasgowtimes.co.uk\/news\/25772474.live-updates-police-fire-wester-common-road-flat-glasgow\/?ref=ed_direct\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Wester Common Road<\/a> was partially sealed off as five fire engines raced to the street, where cops will be on the scene &#8220;for the foreseeable&#8221; as their enquiries are ongoing.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  <img Erskine)\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  A specialist aerial fire engine was also dispatched to the upper-floor blaze, as a police incident commander and CID officers were seen inside the building, and armed police were scrambled nearby.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  A local told the Glasgow Times: \u201cThere\u2019s been a fire on the 15th floor, we haven&#8217;t been allowed back in.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  \u201cWe\u2019re all frozen out here and have no idea when we\u2019ll get back in.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Those who stay on the 15th floor will not be allowed back into their homes due to smoke damage and an ongoing police href=\"https:\/\/www.heraldscotland.com\/topics\/police-scotland\/?ref=au\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Police Scotland<\/a> incident commander told the Glasgow Times at the scene: \u201cThis was an isolated incident on the 15th floor of the block of flats.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  \u201cThere\u2019s no threat to the wider public.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  \u201cDue to the smoke damage, residents on the floor will be displaced as enquiries continue&#8221;\u00a0\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Cops at the scene confirmed that \u201cthere will be officers here for the foreseeable.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  He also commended the fire service and the housing association for their assistance.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Some residents were allowed back into their flats just before 4pm, but one local said he was concerned for around 4pm (Image: Donald Erskine)\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  A Police Scotland spokesperson said: \u201cAround 2pm on Friday, 16 January 2026, we received a report of a fire at a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.glasgowtimes.co.uk\/topics\/property\/?ref=au\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">property<\/a> on Wester Common Road, Glasgow.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  \u201cThere were no reports of any injuries.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  \u201cA 54-year-old man has been arrested, and enquiries are ongoing.&#8221;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The Glasgow Times understands that armed police were spotted nearby on Bardowie Street and scrambled in relation to the incident.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Officers, when asked about the source of the fire, repeated that &#8220;enquiries are ongoing.&#8221;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  A spokesperson from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said:\u201c The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service is at the scene of a building fire in Wester Common Road, Glasgow.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  &#8220;The incident is ongoing, five appliances and an aerial appliance were mobilised.&#8221;\u00a0\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Queens Cross Housing Association has been approached for
