Emergency services were called to a fire on the 15th floor of a block of flats on Wester Common Road in Hamiltonhill on Friday afternoon, with homes evacuated and crews still at the scene hours later.<\/p>\n

Armed police attended the scene of a fire at a high-rise block of flats in Glasgow.<\/a><\/p>\n

Police<\/a> were alerted to the fire on Wester Common Road at around 2pm on Friday, January 16. It is believed the blaze broke out on the 15th floor of the building shortly before emergency services were called.<\/p>\n

The block was evacuated as firefighters<\/a> and police tackled the incident.<\/p>\n

Five fire appliances and an aerial appliance were sent to the scene. Police confirmed crews remained in attendance at around 4.30pm, reports GlasgowLive.<\/a><\/p>\n

Officers have now confirmed that a 54-year-old man has been arrested in connection and enquiries are ongoing. This is after armed officers were seen on Bardowie Street.<\/p>\n

There were no reports of any injuries.<\/p>\n

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: \u201cAround 2pm on Friday, 16 January 2026, we received a report of a fire at a property on Wester Common Road, Glasgow.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere were no reports of any injuries.<\/p>\n

\u201cA 54-year-old man has been arrested and enquiries are ongoing.”<\/p>\n

Poice earlier said that Emergency services were in attendance and people were being asked to avoid the area.<\/p>\n

A spokesperson from the Scottish Fire and Rescue service have said:\u201c The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service are at the scene of a building fire in Glasgow.
